What Does It All Mean?

Now that the Confidential Secretay has won her suit what direction is LPS going. When you add her back pay with benefits to her salary going forward and all the legal fees surrounding this case that has to be a drain on school finances. All because peoplewouldn't come to the table. Too much testosterone. Who suffers, our kids. Do they think we can still afford a new Deputy Superintendent position?

  1. How about a librarian, a computer teacher or Reading teacher/CIT? There are schools that don't have any of those things because of $$$ but Dr. Latham can "find" the money for a Deputy Superintendent and their Confidential Secretary. Sad when our kids futures get put on the back burner to the administration.

  2. after all this talk I still have not heard what the suit was about with the Confidential Secretary - why did she get fired - why did she win the suit?

  3. I wasn't privy to all the documents so what I can tell you must be viewed in that light. My understanding of what happened is as follows. The particular position was eliminated. She was NOT a member of the same union as the teachers but her job had CIVIL Service protection. This protection allowed her the opportunity to "bump" other CS's in the same job classification who had less seniority. For whatever reason she was denied that opportunity by the administration. The position was then renamed to Administrative Assistant and went on from there. Confused? Join the crowd, but the bottom line is somebody ruled against the administration and it's going to cost us money they say we don't have. Maybe it means we won't have 26 six-figure jobs at LPS next year.

  4. Once things settle - I'd love to see you interview her. Like a question and answer piece. Because in speaking with other "confidential secretaries" they are afraid that the same thing will happen to them.

  5. Well Melissa, I would love that but I think things are very unsettled in LPS for a little while, thanks in part to the "Watch".

  6. Is it true the secretary to the School Committee gets $94,000 +++ a year? What does a secretary in Lynn do for these high salaries and such great job protection? No wonder the city can't fix mold and buy new classrooms!

  8. Dear A

As for the Confidential for the Deputy Super this is not why the Confidential has her job back...do your homework before opening your mouth! She was terminated illegally...it's not acceptable for you to comment when you don't know the situation! Let this happen to you and your family and maybe you'll understand.

AS FOR THE DEPUTY I BELIEVE IT'S NEEDED...THERE WERE ALWAYS 2 TO HELP WITH THE WORK! NO THIS CONFIDENTIAL WASN'T PROMISED THIS JOB AND IF SO, IT WOULD SAVE MONEY BY SIMPLY TRANFERRING THE LINE ITEM/MONEY!

SINCE THERE ARE SO MANY BLOGGERS ABOUT SPECIAL ED. I BELIEVE IT WOULD BE IN THE BEST INTEREST OF THE STUDENTS AND ADMINISTRATORS TO HAVE ANOTHER DEPUTY...LOOK AT HOW MANY SCHOOLS THERE ARE, HOW MANY DIFFERENT DEPTS., AND THERE SHOULD BE 3 IF NOT 4 TO BE ABLE TO SPECIALIZE AND LOOK OVER PARTICULAR DEPTS. WITHOUT EXPECTING THE ONE DEPUTY SUPERINTENDENT TO DO THE WORK OF TWO...LET'S STOP THE NONSENSE AND LOOK AT THIS LOGICALLY...IN MY OPINION THIS IS NOT AN ADDITION IT WAS IN THE BUDGET!!!

Can you tell I am very annoyed...I'm sick of everyone trying to speak up for others or comment when they HAVE NO CLUE! Find out your facts before you go off blasting untrue stories!

As for the CIT's there are enough of them, librarians came out of the city budget in the past now the schools, but I might not be 100% correct on this one, and I would love to see you volunteer at the ADMINISTRATION OFFICE AND REALLY GET TO KNOW THE TRUTH...THIS WAS ALWAYS IN THE BUDGET SO LOOK AT THE BIGGER PICTURES; DO NOT LISTEN TO GOSSIP!

    Totally disgusted!

  9. PLEASE MR. IARROBINO IS NOT A CIVIL SERVICE SECRETARY...HE IS HIGHLY EDUCATED AND WORKS FOR THE SCHOOL COMMITTEE, CHILDREN, PARENTS, AND REPORTS TO THE SUPERINTENDENT...GIVE HIM A CALL HE'LL CALL YOU BACK! HE WAS NEVER WAS A CIVIL SERVICE EMPLOYEE!

I SAID IT A LONG TIME AGO HE HAS THE WRONG TITLE AND HOPE THE SC AND ADMINISTRATION WOULD GIVE HIM THE RIGHT TITLE...MAYBE EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT TO THE SCHOOL COMMITTEE OR EXECUTIVE FOR THE SCHOOL COMMITTEE...AKA THE EXECUTIVE MEDIATOR FOR LPS...COME ON PEOPLE WAKE UP!

    ENOUGH!

  10. A

Read the stories about the confidential from the beginning of Stanley's blogs...make an appt with her or better yet sit back and get the facts...she has treated many bloggers with the respect and she deserves to be respected and be given the chance to tell her story correctly...why would you ask why she got her job back or why she was fired...that's very disrepectful!

  11. I stroNgly disagree about the need for a Deputy. Too many layer, too far removed from the kids. Delegate and SHARE THE RESPONSIBILITY..
