Warning! Warning! Qualified People Are Running!

My new good friend Shawn (don't worry Melissa, your still my BFF) asked me to check out this new web site for Delores who I guess is running for something or other. Well I did and let me tell you I think my throwing my support would set a dangerous precedent.
She is clearly qualified and extremely professional. I ask you, "Why would we want people like that on the Lynn School Committee, when the current administration has worked so hard to elevate the perception we are achieving educational greatness? People are flocking to get into our schools.".
Besides I have a reputation for being completely objective and non biased. One more thing, I jealous of her web site. If you must check it out for yourself go ahead, but don't say I didn't tell you so.

  1. Thank you Stanley for posting my new website on your blog:

    WWW.DEE42012.com and on
    FACEBOOK it is Dolores Waters-DiFillipo.

Please check it out and look at the poll we have going. It is really exciting and interesting. I believe my campaign is the first to be doing such a thing! You have to love technology and great committee chairpersons.

I am also brand new to FACEBOOK. Just getting my feet wet, so if I have not be-friended anyone as of yet, please keep trying and I know with time I will get it. I look forward to hearing from the citizens of Lynn.
    Regards,
    Dolores DiFillipo
    Candidate for Lynn School Committee

  2. It is a great website... you have my vote Dee... Quals and training count for a lot... it looks like the LSC just may be turning around

  3. WOW....What a website... I like the poll page, seems like we really finally have someone with smarts and knows/wants to help the us as a community. She def has my vote. I don't think there are people on the current LSC with her qualifications. And I ask myself, "What have they really done?"and have we ever seen their resumes. Rick Starbard claims to be a teacher, but he is not a certified teacher. He worked at Lynn Tech showing kids how to work on cars. And Maria, we all know she is the union vote because of her ethincity. She has no qualifications for the LSC. Cappono, what is her qualification to be on the LSC? I would go on but the only one that would be the sensible vote is Delores D. Hey City of Lynn, check out her site

  5. Interesting resume Dolores! Keep up the good work!

  6. Anon 653 - you are confusing being a superintendent with a school committee member - entirely different roles. Dolores has great qualifications but so don't all the others on the current committee - Maria headed up Shannon Grant Board for Lynn plus a board member of about 6 city non-profits serving the families of Lynn. What does being Latino have to do with being a union vote? 70% of the public school students are minorities - they need a voice too.

  7. So funny how people think school committee members are appointed to run the schools yet no one criticizes the resumes of the city councilors - Councilors are paid some $15,000 a year (vs SC getting $800) and yet no one demands they have any qualifications - in fact the ones with the most qualifications don't get elected. I wish some on the SC would run for councilor - they are better qualified than the current group. Besides coaching a basketball team, what are Buzzy Barton's qualifications?

  8. Anoy 850: Maria did not head up the Shannon grant. Shannon Grants are given to City head officails that are worthy to recieve it. I dont think she headed up the Shannon Grant. Its a publicity gimmic for her. The 6 fanily NPO's that you speak of that Maria helps out with, how come no one has ever heard about them. This is purely about the qualifications of the right person to sit on a committee. The qualifications heres, being educated to have work specificly with children. You talk about Maria and these NPO's, maybe she should run for Mayor.
Anom 926, I believe that LSC personnel get paid more then just $800. Please do some research.

  9. If the LSC got paid more than %800 a month in stipend I might run for office. Sadly they don't so you won't see my name on the ballot.

  10. Annon 11:17 - Are you serious responding when you don't know? Check out the websites. If you never heard of the non-profits in Lynn that are helping the families, you are not in a position to comment. When the city receives the Shannon grant or any grant money, how do you think it is spent? She was Chair of Steering Committee. Money doesn't go into a pool. SC get a $800 stipend which probably covers their gas to get to the meetings. If you don't know, don't post!!!

  11. Anon 1117 - Why are you even posting if you don't know about the non-profits in Lynn? If you don't know the answers, how can you make a remark about someone? If you never heard of the non-profits working hard to help families in this city, Google them!

The Shannon Grant Steering Committee was headed by Ms. Carrasco. When the city received grant money, what do you think happens to it and how do you think it is spent?

$800 is the stipend for the school committee members - it is not a job, it is for oversight. There are over 25 administrators in the school department making over $100k that are responsible for running the schools. The stipend probably just covers the cost of the gas to get to the meetings which are many and often.

  12. Anonymous 6:53. Why don’t you do your homework before you speak of things which you possess no knowledge of? Why don’t you meet me sometime and I’ll show you a copy of my teaching license. Do you really think that they let people teach 14 years in the school system without being licensed?

Stan, I don’t know why this thread shows that I removed an earlier post. I just saw this thread for the first time. How could anyone have used my name for a post?

  13. I have no idea Rick. I saw that and thought you just pulled it for a typo or something. And for the record, I have no doubts about your certification. Your experience in the real world and pragmatic approach to education would win my endorsement if I had an opinion and was willing to share it.

  14. That's really concerning how someone could use Rick's name...all they have to do is type in the name and it will appear that way...even if you make a special code they see it appear at the end it's posted...good catch Rick...let's all be respectful of everone and not tamper with identities! Please!

    Thank you

  15. Holly, but if you click on his identity, it will show you that it was the same person...by the time he joined and the amount of post.

  16. Anon 10:07: Not sure what you mean. When I click my name, it just shows the date that I signed up and views. At the time that post that was removed, I was sound asleep in a hotel in NJ. I did remove one for a typo last week on a different thread. Just seems strange that it could happen, when I have to log into my google account to post anything on the blog. I wonder what it said before it was removed. hmmm.

  17. I don't understand I guess...I know HACKERS can do just about anything...someone got into my FB and we were lucky to catch it...you wouldn't believe what some know how to do and who would do it...nothing shocks me anymore! Click on the identity (name?) and it shows all the times he/she posts? Is there someone who is administrator of this site? A programmer once told me nothing is private on the computer! I also know sometimes people get upset, type something, and hit the wrong button posting it when we didn't mean too...good old therapy trick is to type out your feelings and then substitute it with a happy, not angry, solution...now imagine hitting the wrong button and there it appears for everyone to see...I hear you but had to tell you from doing Consulting work I see more people accidentally making an embarrassing mistake when angry...you must be real good at computers!

Hope we elect a School Committee who will work together and make a difference...TEAM work!

    Thanks,

  18. One day I went to the store and let my nephews stay at my house watching the rest of the movie...one being 17 yrs. and the other 16 yrs...5 days later I got a call from Chico telling me you really need to check your outgoing message on your answering machine...I said why? Well, let's just say the two boys said, "Aunt Holly is in the bathroom sick with the d______ so don't call back until she calls you"...I was so embarrassed and had to call everyone back apologizing...the most embarrassing was calling back the State Senator trying to explain and apologize...imagine I had no clue for 5 days...never can tell what one might do...I can LOL now but couldn't then!

    Hope I made you laugh!

    Keep smiling,

  19. @Rick - someone else had posted that their post had showed up on another thread. This could be what happened to you. We've discussed Stan's blog doing weird things in the past i.e. your posts not appearing. Remember everyone, technology isn't perfect - we just think it is.

  20. Conspiracy Theories put to Rest… Ok, so I got to the bottom of how my name was used on a deleted post. While I was away on a business trip, My secretary said that I had left my Google account open on one of the office computers. Anon whoever wrote the post about me being unlicensed and one of my LVTI co-teachers who works for me on Saturdays was checking out the site on this computer before work, saw the post and flipped out. He took it as an insult toward not only me but every vocational instructor who teaches a trade. He quickly fired off a response, and he posted it. (You think I can be sarcastic? This guy makes me look like Mr. Rogers) When he saw that it posted by my name because of my open Google account, he panicked and deleted it. He then realized that it was time to go to work, and never got back to post it anonymously. So now we know…the rest of the story.

  21. Rick, you better leave Mr. Rogers out of this. He's my hero and he's from Pittsburgh.
