DAN JOINS THE ACCOLADE PARADE

Re: Recognition

Dan,
Thanks for getting back on this. I think Brian has talked to the parents. If not I will get them. The Post I did on it by far is my fastest rising one.

Terry,

Can you please create two citations for Jhandel German and Francisco Morales Jr. in recognition of their stellar accomplishments on and off the gridiron representing Lynn in the Blacklight/TV All American Bowl in Virginia Beach, VA.

See below for context and background. I know we are honoring the Jr. ROTC team that evening as well but this is only 2 students and I would like to do tips before the summer school break. I have also spoken with both parents and told them to report to Council Chambers at 745pm on Tues. June 14th.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks,

Brian

Jhandel is my neighbor and we are happy to provide recognition and citations at a future council meeting. I know we are honoring the Lynn ROTC members on June 14th.

President Cahill sets the agenda, if we can squeeze him in, that would be great.

I will wait for Dan's response.

Best,

Brian

Dear Brian,

Thank you for your quick positive response. As I am sure the opportunity to put a positive spin on the any of the residents of
Lynn fall right in line with your project, the LYNN QUALITY INITIATIVE. The fact that a neighbor of yours has brought the city of Lynn positive press makes the accomplishment all the more gratifying.

Thanks again and I look forward to the ceremony!

Stan

NSS PAYBACK

Dear Mayor Kennedy, Dr. Latham, and members of the Lynn School Committee,

Recently the Lynn School Committee was asked to approve how LPS spent monies reimbursed from the city as part of a repayment plan worked out between the city and the DESE. Supposedly the DESE was requiring that approval. That approval was tabled due to some problems with the Tracy modular classrooms I believe. That motion has not come off the table and as a result of that fact, I think I would be correct in the assertion you will be trying to discuss next year’s budget at the next Finance subcommittee and Meeting of the Whole next Thursday June 2 with unresolved past issues.

I, along with others have written several times requesting details of the supposed negotiated resolution of the Net School Spending crisis. So far no response has been forthcoming. Such resistance to public disclosure only fuels speculation of corruption and misappropriation. Even if that were true, I do not believe the political will is present to proceed with prosecution. Be that as it may, I will continue to ask questions openly and try to expose what I believe are questionable practices.

Sincerely,

Stan

THE LSC APPROVAL OF HOW LPS SPENT THE NSS BACK-PAYMENT FROM THE CITY NEVER HAPPENED

Dear Principal LaRivee,

Unfortunately, I have been informed that the NASA BANNER removed right before the break has not been put back up but also no one seems to know the location of where it is stored or if it was destroyed. Perhaps I may be wrong but the failure to respond leads me no other alternative but to conclude the worst.

It is both tragic and appropriate that I am writing you on Memorial Day seeing how your callous and cavalier attitude has defaced the sacrifice made by an American hero, astronaut, and teacher, Christa McAuliffe. Her legacy has always been a part of that school’s history.

Need I remind you that removal of gifts accepted by the school is a violation of school policy unless approved by the school committee. It is quite possible that sanctions or reprimands could be forthcoming if someone decides to uphold the stated policy.

Sincerely,

Stan

Dear Dr. Latham, Mayor Kennedy, and members of the Lynn School Committee,

It has been brought to my attention that two students at the Sisson Elementary School have been chosen to participate in the Blacklight TV/All American Bowl at Virginia Beach with approximately 60 kids from across the nation. They are Jhandel German and Francisco Morales, Jr. This is such an honor for both them and the entire city of Lynn to be featured on the national stage,

Hopefully their achievements can be honored publicly at upcoming meeting so that they can serve as encouragement to other students who can see that great accomplishments can be obtained through hard work and commitment to a goal. I am cc’ing this letter to a couple of city councilmen in hopes of spreading the opportunity to acknowledge this remarkable achievement.

I look forward to seeing how you celebrate the achievements of these fine young men.

Sincerely,

Stan

LITTLE BIG SHOTS, LYNN EDITION

Doing my best to call this story, INFLATEGATE. For the life of me I can't understand how the "new and improved", PR rag we affectionately call the ITEM. This is the kind of story that does LYNN proud. Nominated by former and current coaches, these two boys 910 yr olds), FRANCISCO MORALES, JR. (25) AND JHANDEL GERMAN (81) are among 60 boys chosen from all across the country to play in an ALL-AMERICA GAME tomorrow at 10 AM in Virginia Beach.

A long season of hard work and practice has led them to an appearance on the big stage or turf as the case may be.

VIOLATION SITUATION

I don't know for sure, my eyes aren't too good so I won't be filing any complaints with the ATTORNEY GENERAL for what would appear to be a CLEAR violation of the OPEN MEETING LAW.
I would guess that is MS.SPINUCCI, the Asst. principal at LVTI, instead of the principal MR. BOUNTEMPO who was listed on the posted agenda. See below:

Now I know MR. BOUNTEMPO pretty well and I don't recall ever seeing him wear a dress or a kilt even. I have broke bread or at least tuna wraps with PAMELA MCDONALD at meetings held before the regular OPEN HOUSES at the school. She has a very energetic and bubbly personality.

PAM gave them a the annual summary that is mandated by statue of all the good things happening at LTVI. Probably she knows that the members of the LSC don't get a chance to catch my blog.

WHY NO DOCTORAL DEGREE REQUIRED?

FARMER JUDY

The Mayor of La Mensa claim to value not a degree
Yet still her's is all covered with Ivy

"What's good for me is not for you!"
A double standard, yes it's true.

But did you really expect any other way
It's only SPED that's all I'll say.

This way we'll get by on the cheap
And what I sow others will reap.

HYPOCRISY IS ALL ABOUT TIMING

While teachers meed masters
Administrators move past their
Educational minimums
Playing politics for some.

The head of SPED don't you see
Should have a doctorate degree.
But requiring one would limit
Who you could put in it.

You may argue a degree's not that important
Until an illness, you want
And it's surgery you need
Then you'll settle for nothing less than an MD.

FRESH LOOK, LATHAM IN THE MIDDLE

At the last LSC meeting DR. LATHAM presented the newly designed MIDDLE SCHOOL diplomas. The time is right for a FRESH LOOK given we now have a NEW MARSHALL, plans for a NEW PICKERING, and possibly building on to BREED.

THERE WERE AT LEAST TWO DOCTORS IN THE HOUSE

TMS

It was announced at the last LSC meeting that DR.. LATHAM and DR. TUTWIELER recently attended the first all-school assembly at the NEW middle school. It was their Memorial Day ceremony. Even though the MSBA refuses to pay for an assembly hall/theater for middle school, the cafetorium worked out quite nicely.

NOT ALL LAUNDRY IS DIRTY

It was announced last night that THE LYNN BUSINESS ED FOUNDATION helped LPS by in effect laundering donated money through their 501c3 to the sum of $83, 500. That way non-profit foundations can donate to public schools a legal-like.

Funny, CHARTER SCHOOLS which are also supposed to be PUBLIC don't have to play by the same

rules and engage in all this financial chicanery.. Why can't we all just play by the same rules?
