Put "Giving Us The Business" Out Of Business

Of course, like always, I don't know nothing. I think there is going to be a Personnel Sub-committee meeting before the regularly scheduled LSC meeting. In it they are supposed to tinker with the posting for the already approved posting for the six figure position of Deputy Superintendent. It may be our last chance to have an impact on this matter.

Voice your opinion to the people that matter. Donna Coppola chairs the committee. She previously voted against its creation. The other two members who voted for it are Maria Carrasco and Patti Capano. Call them, e mail them. Let them know what you think, how you feel. If you don't know how to get in touch with them, I feel sure Dr. Latham's office would only be too happy to help. Parent involvement, that's a good thing, isn't it?

Oh yeah, we don't have a science curriculum person and I hear there is some question about our reading programs. Perhaps those are areas this new Deputy should address, but I don't know nothing.

  1. School Committee members are listed in the City of Lynn directory under elected officials/committees. Good Luck getting anyone on the phone or a call back.
Why call when you already have their answers. NO SHOW for PAC meetings ever!

  2. Try FACEBOOK. Fill up their inbox at least. If we don't voice our opinions, nothing is definitely going to change.

  3. There was no notice of a personnel sub-committee meeting prior to the regular meeting in our packet. At least not one that I was invite to. Phone calls, emails and FB messages are all a means of lobbying on you own behalf, which is the most effective form of lobbying.

Anon 6:47, I have only been invited to the last 2 PAC meetings. I attended the meeting on the 7th but I was unable to attend last night. If I have an open invite for the 4th, I will be there.

  4. Stanley,

When is the next Personnel Sub-Committee Meeting and what's the agenda? I am always interested in knowing what's going on...what is the next PAC meeting about? any trainings? I love the trainings and other cities aren't as interesting! I'll be heading into the City of Boston to one of their trainings...after giving it some thought I think the 2nd Deputy position might be good for the children and parents of Lynn...it's all about the duties assigned to this position and what she will oversee...has anyone asked what this person might oversee? My brother was a former Deputy Superintendent Edward Johns and there was another Deputy Super. when he was in office...I think one should be Pre K-7 and the other 8-12 and oversee Special Education/Bilingual Education...not always is there a great need for Administrators, but let's give this some thought and request this person be the one to overse Spec. Ed. budget/concerns which have been posted on the blogs...please note this is coming from me, not Dolores! Sometimes being against something might not be in the best interest of the students in the long run...tell me what you think!

    Thanks,

  5. Rick, I was just guessing on what I thought I heard after the last meeting, I was talking to Donna last week and she was not sure. If there is no meeting, that's fine because there can be no action on the position until the sub-committee reviews the posting. A delay is a win.

  6. Exactly. I would at least like to see it held until we go through the upcoming budget process. I would hate to see it filled even if there is money this year, and have to cut it in a couple of months because it doesn't financially fit in the upcoming year.

  7. I must disagree. I telephoned Pat Capano on two different occasions and each time I have spoken to her directly and she listened and took the time to walk me through the issue I was faced with. So hats off to Pat Capano, and thank god she took her election papers out she deserves my vote and can count on it. Go Pat Capano......

  8. Why do you all need an invite to the PAC meeting, are these meetings open to the public, take some responsibility for yourself and read the item or seek out the proper person for the dates of the meetings and attend, for gods sake do you expect to be individually invited to each meeting the city holds, gimmie a break here

  9. Seriously Go Pat Capano. Now that her son has left public school, she just votes on the wish of the Super. Who sees her. She does whatever the Super and Mayor want her to do. That is why she continues to get elected. She does not campaign, attend any functions or talk to anyone, but still gets elected. Wake up people.
    gimmie a break here

  10. Those would be great signs:

    GO Capano!
    GO Spirito!
    GO Ford!
    Please LEAVE!

    Great chant too.
