Are You Ready To Rumbllllllle!

The last item on tomorrow's LSC agenda is a DRAFT posting of the posting of the newly created position of Deputy Superintendent. I may be mistaken but it probably won't be a volunteer one like my library one. They might actually "pay" this person.

I'll be anxious to find out how they are going to bankroll this payroll. Please show up and find out with me. GO GREEN!

    Hey Stanley,

I just heard through the grape vine that the school committee usually starts at 6:00, not 7:00 as they have posted. Can you confirm this?

  2. My plan is to attend by 7:00.(have to find something green...I am half Irish, so it should not be to hard)...ha ha!
I have another engagement that evening, but please...Stanley & Melissa take notes...etc. We need to stay on top of what is going on here in order to begin to work for change!
    Sincerely,
    Dolores DiFillipo

  3. By the way, usually Sub-Committee meets at 6:00 and then the formal meeting begins at 7:00 with the Mayor present....

Do they post the sub-committee meetings? I also learned that "open mike" starts at 6:45. Do they post that as well?

  5. I don't see any sub-committee posted yet. I will call people to confirm. No one is allowed to speak before the sub-committee unless they call on you. In between meetings, they have the open mike. But that is not set in stone, no matter what they say.

  6. Hopefully I will have a few green ribbons, but I do have personal business earlier in the day.

Delores Take notes? That's what I do. Have you seen my numbers?

  7. Stanley, I think you might be interested in looking into the many consultants we have in our school system. They are retired principals, administrators, and CITs who come back as consultants to LPS. Some are making as much as $650 a day to consult, whatever that means. Our tax dollar hard at work. signed: frustrated teacher

  8. Dear frustrated, you should have signed it "Outraged Teacher". Who are these consultants and what do they do? Oh, that was your question. Why do we pay this much money to tell us how to have five failing schools? I work in the library for FREE and we have a functioning library. Who do I ask? Heck, they are uncomfortable with me downtown anyway. Hopefully I'll see you tomorrow night!

So I went to Stop and Shop to find a tasteful St. Patty's Day ribbon (because it'll be green) and low and behold - they didn't have any. So now I am trying to figure out what is more tasteful: a green plastic leprechaun hat, or green Mardi Gras beads? =)

And I agree with Stanley, Frustrated Teacher, you should come tomorrow and ask that very question.

  10. Giving out Mardi Gras beads at a SC meeting...what does one have to do to get them? lol.
There are no sub-comm meetings scheduled but there will be an exec. session to discuss some collective bargaining issues.

Frustrated Teacher; Consultants are not generally something that we are made aware of, unless we inquire. If there are specific areas of concern, please email me rstarbard@comcast.net and I will try to get answers. I promise to keep your identity confidential, but I will not act on behalf of anonymous parties.

  11. Shucks, Rick that was fast. I mean it's bad enough I while getting to the bottom of it don't get paid but now by being so fast you robbed me of the simple pleasure I get out of trying to be witty. Blast you, Rick Starbard.

Is it just me Stanley or did your site get over 600 hundred hits today? At this rate it'll only be a few more weeks before you hit 20,000. Now if we could just get everyone to show up tomorrow....

  13. Melissa, things are hopping or maybe it's just my mom double clicking her mouse a lot. Anyway, my second ten is going to come a lot faster than my first.

  14. Stanley & Melissa,

Let's just say many are afraid to show due to RETALIATION...there seems to be some sort of concern who talks to who, they must be in cohoots, don't worry some will stare you down while you sit in the audience, and truthfully it's because they took an oath and don't follow through...my advise after a couple terms get them out before they become too close to the administration, or too close for comfort...let's see if you have 5 parents I will be shocked...that is why Stanley's site is starting to implode...do you notice all the Anon. that should tell you everything...

    Keep me posted
    Waiting Anon.

  15. Rick I just wanted to deflect everyone's attention from the fact my wife bought me a lightly colored lime green T shirt to wear. I am going to stick out, My shirt may be green but my cheeks will be red.

The real purpose for the green is to call attention on our desire to focus our attention on the information we share.

  16. Waiting Anon, your reluctance to come forward is understandable. I have heard many horror stories. I realize that I am in a unique position because I work for NO ONE. You can't be fired from being poor or being a parent. Finding out things is my fun.
