JUSTIFY THIS

Last fall, Gordon students and faculty were set to launch “Places You’ll Go,” an event to bring 600 Lynn public school students to the Gordon campus for a college access day.

In response to the Guest Commentary on Gordon College in The ITEM here is what I feel was an irresponsible, misdirected, and less than thoughtful remark.

How many tutors were in schools and what schools were they in? Seems article doesn't really give concrete facts to justify need.

HELLO, ARE YOU SERIOUS?

The sheer fact that we are a LEVEL 3 district already establishes the FACT there is a NEED. The DESE has already pointed out the NEED.

The real question then becomes HOW does the NEED get filled if it does. While BOTH sides of this argument whine about their UNPROVEN persecutions, our children are denied FREE access to a better education and exposure to the pursuit of higher education.

That's ALL our children cause remember even the LBGT students have to pass the MCAS. There is NO gay exemption. To date, there has not been ONE complaint of discrimination or even a snide remark. To me, ONE has to be occur before it becomes actionable. It is good that that CHAMPION OF CIVIL RIGHTS, CHUCK is not running for re-election so he can work on his PRACTICE because I believe he could use a little brushing up on the CONSTITUTION. Now I don't even have to get into GORDON'S right to have their belief because there is the whole DUE PROCESS thing about convicting them BEFORE a crime has been committed.

If those who are REALLY concerned about the whole LBGT thing the BEST strategy to effect an ACTUAL change would be to use the CHRISTIAN philosophy of LOVE THY NIEGHBOR against them until at least such time as an actual injustice has been perpetrated. Believe me, once one occurs I'll work some poetry on them. Acting before only solidifies their beliefs and guarantees the HATE grows. You need to ask yourself, "Is that what you really want?".
