WILL GORDON COLLEGE STAY CHUCK-ED?

Civil rights commissioner: Lynn wrong on Gordon

Well as I have stated in the past I think CHUCK is wrong on this issue. However I also think this lone federal Civil Rights comissioner is wrong as well.

For me this is not a FREE SPEECH or FREEDOM OF RELIGION issue. Those who signed the letter were asking if they could be given an exemption "to discriminate", ot they were "going to discriminate". No lines in the sand were drawn. No specific incident was cited. If there was one I would say enact a punishment. You just can't penalize someone for asking a question.

In fact, I say GORDON COLLEGE actually benefits from all the controversy generated by this nearsighted decision. Their base will be rallied, their views further entrenched and a more hostile enviroment is created for the LBGT communiity of their alumni and current students. Yeah they're there. I am sure statistics  (and you know I hate numbers) will support me on this, LBGT people are everywhere. Arbitrarily denying their right to exist doesn't stop it. Move on.

Cries of perceived persecution only perpetuate the injustice. What we are witnessing is "birth of a jihad"from both sides.

The real losers are the students of LPS. Sure CHUCK has tried to minimize GORDON'S involvement but any loss is still a loss. He had to admit on the CITY VOICE last night that there has been NO replacement of the services GORDON COLLEGE provided despite the earlier claims by the supporters of the severing of ties that numerous colleges had expressed interest in filling that void.

In the article, CHUCK again resorts to personal attacks against the messenger to bolster his faulty legal argument against the message. Just like his own  PREDJUDICAL and DISCRIMINATORY accusations against GORDON COLLEGE'S President about being from "the south"  last night on the CITY VOICE and the blatantly political accusations he made about this commissioner.

You know it's kind of ironic that when talking about his own law practice CHUCK referred to lawyers being like doctors. A doctor (an Ed.) I have on staff back at my office says MD'S "bury their mistakes". Well CHUCK's new practice is going to specialize in ESTATE PLANNING.

I'M JUST SAYIN....

  5. Sorry, I think everybody everybody has it all wrong. It's NOT WRONG because of FREEDOM OF RELIGION issues or discrimination practices. It is wrong because GORDON did not commit a crime, they only asked a question. If anyone has an actual case of discrimination then they should come forward with the charge and it should be properly litigated. Until such time GORDON is being persecuted for a "thought" crime so they get to be a victim, a martyr, only further reinforcing the divide and making the bigotry grow stronger. I think the whole controversy was brought up to score votes but in the end was a political miscalculation.

  6. Didn't the article state that Obama granted the exemption?

    1. There as actually NO mention of whether or not the exemption was ever granted in that article. (I have read elsewhere it was not) No matter, the motion was made on the "intent: to discriminate - a THOUGHT crime. If the exemption was granted and I don't think it was, then there would be no violation because discrimation would be legal. The LYNN SCHOOL COMMITTEE'S authority does not supersede the US government's. The thing about the law, "You can't pick and choose which ones you follow".

  7. The article actually does state Obama included the exemption. I don't know if this is accurate or not.

"Gordon College came under scrutiny last summer in a dispute concerning President Barack Obama’s executive order to extend job protection for gays employed by federal contractors. Gordon College President Dr. Michael Lindsay was among the signatories of a letter urging Obama to include an exemption to the executive order for religious institutions. Obama eventually included the exemption."

  8. When He was at my building looking for votes his homosexual teacher leader of the homosexual club in Lynn Public Schools/ campaign worker admitted to me there was NO complaint from any of the students regarding the issue in question. This means these students were hurt because of the supposed actions of a person from the organization . How crazy is that. I believe these student from Gordon have a right of action against the city. I wish they would do so.
