MARCH MADNESS MADE SMARTBOARDS REALLY SMART

There will be a story coming up in the ITEM complete with pictures and details about an exciting new and unique MICROSCOPE that is hooked up to the SMARTBOARD (thank you DR. LATHAM) I, along with real journalists, people from CITYSPROUTS and the FOOD CORP, got to watch a demonstration of a lesson taught about evolution and adaption. You know those funny sounding scientific words.

That's not a story I'm going to tell you. I'll leave that to people smarter than me. What I want to talk about is how we got to this point. Did LPS provide this cutting edge technology? Well like I said they did put up the SMARTBOARDS but the MICROSCOPE plug in was DONATED.

From who you ask?

That my friends is where the story is.AARON ROTHBARD from MARBLEHEAD  raised the money to purchase this piece of special electronics. AARON is a senior at MARBLEHEAD HIGH SCHOOL, a SENIOR, a student.

The FORD SCHOOL connection started back in FOURTH GRADE while AARON was a student at COHEN HILLEL ACADEMY to read to the kindergarten class as a READING BUDDY. Then again AARON'S relationship with FORD SCHOOL was rekindled in seventh or eighth grade serving as a math tutor to FORD students. The FORD-HILLEL partnership continued. Both Aaron and his brother tutor MATH for the PSSAT at FORD SCHOOL on Mon. nights. Part-time WATCH photographer TRIPPY is one of their students.

AARON moved up ans on, Now he got to HIGH SCHOOL and no formal partnership existed between MARBLEHEAD HIGH and FORD existed. That didn't stop AARON. No he organized a contest centered around the NCAA TOURNAMENT where the proceeds from it were to be dedicated to FORD SCHOOL and allowed them to purchase this state of the art microscope. What INITIATIVE!

After the demonstration Aaron's mom gave me a ride to my BOSTON STREET OFFICE. On the way I told judging by the excitement on the faces of MRS. SAMSON'S FIFTH GRADE class, she should be sssssssso proud. A little uncomfortable with the praise, she said, "IT REALLY TAKES A VILLAGE".

Funny comment when you think about it, in an ironic sort of way. The author of that book, former SEC. OF STATE and at the time former FIRST LADY HILLARY CLINTON once visited this special school.
