I AM ABOUT TO USE A FIVE-LETTER WORD

A-U-D-I-T

I think NOW would be a good time to have a little accountability of HOW all that RACE TO THE TOP MONEY has been SPENT. Tell you why I am concerned.......

1). If the CURRICULUM DEPARTMENT is in disarray over a LOST grievance about implementing a new system then all of those training aka- professional development - must have been for, well nothing. How were those CONSULTANTS paid?

2). The PROGRAM SPECIALIST in charge of the RACE TO THE TOP grant retired at the end of OCTOBER. Funny time for a retirement. This is such a complex and complicated GRANT. Now I was pretty confident in her ability. Now, not so much.

3). Where did the money come for those princiPAL raises not to mention the BIG raise given DR. LATHAM.

Don't get the idea I;m making any accusations or anything of the sort but.........

WHAT COULD IT HURT TO OPEN UP THE LPS CHECKBOOK?

We are about to be asked to take on a lot of new debt  and I want to be supportive of the new school. We need it.

BUT......

I kind of want, sort of want to be sure that we are spending what we got responsibly.

  1. All grants are routinely audited. Move on to your next thought!

    1. All the more reason to catch any improprieties early. I can't help but notice you never addressed my other concerns. Where did the money come from and you NEVER defended our CURRICULUM.

  2. Retirement dates are usually decided by an individual based upon their date of birth and/or date of hire. So, an October retirement date isn't unusual. It could be when she reached her goal of age and years of service to get the maximum retirement benefit.

    1. I understand how the calender works. I am just find it curious that someone who took on such an important, ambitious project would leave so early. I think there is more to the story..

    1. Ouch, you are right. Working is a distant, painful memory. I suspect though, people don't usually go in teaching/education for money alone. There are professions that pay more. It is just that heading up this RACE grant is a big deal and could be a big chance to make a big difference. It seems hard to imagine someone could walk away so easily.
