I found something looking over the budget that I'm afraid is common practice. LSC member RICK STARBARD was pointing to just this fact when the creation of the new PROGRAM SPECIALIST for the WRAP-AROUND PROGRAM was being created.
"Don't Worry," he was told. "We got a grant for TWO YEARS and then we can walk away".
The trouble is we never do. Case in point perusing the SPECIAL EDUCATION budget for next year, I came across an interesting observation. Last year we had grants to cover a PROGRAM SPECIALIST'S salary in COACH for $72,000, this year we don't and we are paying $72,000. Also last year a GRANT paid for an administrator at $101,700 with a secretary/clerk at $50,600.
This year with RAISES and WITHOUT GRANTS we are paying about $245,000 out of the LPS checking account. These ILLUMINATING facts brought to you by the 268,000 POINTS OF LIGHT FOUNDATION.
