CELEBRATING POETRY OF THE PAST

Looks like MARCH 1 DR. SUESS'S birthday will be celebrated at the FORD SCHOOL library in a special way. Sure a host of dignitaries have been invited to mark the occasion with a breakfast in the LIBRARY (I wonder if it;ll be GREEN EGGS & HAM?) and then these dignitaries will go around classroom's reading the SUESS classics. There is power in his poetry.

Sure other schools will have celebrations.....

BUT.....

only three elementary schools have staffed libraries with someone to promote the power of reading. That would be FORD, CONNERY, and HARRINGTON. The latter two have been mandated by the state to have them because someone recognizes the importance of reading, making all LEVEL 4 schools maintain a library.

HOWEVER.....

FORD'S will be extra special. I know, I know, I am a wee bit partial to FORD.but that is only because.....

THEY DESERVE IT.

Listen to what else they got going on on that day. Now I previously reported how over 20 volunteers came in at a moments notice armed with tools to assemble 20 some bookshelves. What I didn't tell you was the same girl that last year donate new books so that every kindergartner could have one of their own to take home has once again taken charity to a new height. This time she donated her barmitzvah money to purchase enough books so that EVERY classroom would be stocked with its own mini-library. Her generosity will be observed by all the invited dignitary/readers.

As if that wasn't enough to make this day extra special, the library will be REDEDICATED to DR. MIRAM MORSE, a long time LPS employee who through her many years of service championed the cause of READING. A plaque signifying that the FORD LIBRARY was named after her as a tribute and testimony to her dedication to the importance of READING was discovered when packing the library for a proposed move that was canceled at the last moment.

Anyway the celebration of DR. SUESS'S birthday will provide the perfect opportunity for LPS to express its gratefulness!

    1. Less than some stores have going out of business sales. Seriously, it has NEVER been re-dedicated. Are you telling me where to move or where to go?
