There's power in numbers. That's why PAC has MOVED to the FORD SCHOOL to have it's meetings (next one:Mon. Feb. 6 at 7pm).
It is simply because we believe more parents will be able to attend our meetings. You have to speak up before your voice is heard.
Can you explain to me what is the purpose of the PAC and how it benefit's the kids? I'm not very familiar with it.
ReplyDeleteThanks.
Well that answer is a little complicated. At first you might think it's just a group of PARENTS OF SECIAL NEEDS students getting together to gripe about LPS, a very limited subset. But when you consider about 20% of LPS's student population gets some sort of SPED service then the group takes on added importance. When you further realize that 1% of our students take 10% of the LPS budget, we need everybody to look for answers.
ReplyDeleteMelissa R., who is PAC's co-chair gave this answer to someone who asked if they coul attend:
Everyone is welcome. Our By-Laws state that our meetings are not only public but ALL interested parties may attend. We actually encourage EVERYONE to attend because the information that we have isn't just for parent's of children with special needs - we also provide information on reading programs, spelling programs, information about the Children's Behavioral Health Initiative, Supplemental Educational Services, etc, etc.
That's a better answer than I could have wrote.
