NOW IT'S THE PARENT'S TURN

They heard from the people who were paid quite well to be there  so time to speak up. Believe me they want to hear from you.

  1. Sadly, only a few of them are interested in what the parents have to say.

    1. Sadly most parents don't have anything to say and a lot that do have no idea what they are talking about.

    2. I have to disagree. That is completely not my experience. Maybe you're hanging around the wrong parents.

    3. I have worked in Lynn schools for over 20 years. The parents of the brightest, best kids come, the others, the majority do not. These parents miss appointments called by teachers, IEP mtg, don't return phone calls. Over and over this happens. Give the free food and they will come and promise their kids teachers that homework will be done, attendance will be better, no more coming in late...that last a week. I have seen it over and over and over. What experience do you have? 50 parents of good students is a drop in the bucket, 20 vocal parents that have incorrect information can'T change anything. Just because you shout doesn't mean your right!

    4. I'm not a parent, but what I see going on is wrong.

  2. Is that it? We're supposed to roll over and die? Somebody get a petition to appeal the committees vote.

    1. I don't think you can appeal the VOTE, however it's a blank contract. If you can stick with a low unacceptable offer you still might be able to get rid of her. I don't know it's just a thought. There is always a recall petition to get rid of the particular sitting committee members,

    4. And school committee. 150 signatures. The council has the authority to open investigation on any city dept. and the mayors office. If you have enough facts, then present them.

    5. I don't think the council has jurisdiction. But you could petition the school committee.

  4. Ok here've is the scenario. Claire Crane is interim. A world wide search is conducted, as usual, for. New super. That means it is advertised 3 times in the item. Do you think for one minute someone from outside of Lynn would be hired????someone whose last name we have heard all our lives gets the job....you know they all work for the city..Cowdells, Phelans , Dill, etc. and the change will bee monumental! What are you people thinking!

    1. Crane is Lynn's hidden jewel. Remember...it's all for the children, and She can do the job!

    1. Relax, close your eyes, breathe deep and tell me what you're really afraid of.

    2. What I do is ask them for reasons WHY they voted the way they did. I give them all the facts I have from my research in speaking to students, parents, teachers, principals, the DOE and even Dr. Latham and ask them to provide me with results of the research they did which caused them to vote the way they did. I can tell you that Ford, Capano and now Gallo, have yet to ever provide any information regarding any research they have done, or any facts or proof that shows Dr. Latham is doing a good job or that our schools and district are in good shape (Other than bragging that we are "the best of the worst" of course) The reason is because they do not do any research, they have no idea what is really going on in our schools, and to be honest, they really do not care because all they really care about is their own personal and political agenda's. However, as I've told them many times, I welcome any information they (or anyone) can provide that proves Dr. Latham is doing a good job leading our district and that our schools are performing well. Until then, I can only go off of what I've discovered which is Lynn is a failing district.

  6. Have u done an analysis of testing data? The district has made a major
Investment in training data coaches who train teachers to drill down and learn who isn't getting what and why and then adapt lessons to teach what was not learned. It's all done with careful research into all kinds
    Of scores....

    1. I am curious....With this "major investment" in training data coaches, why then are so many children still not proficient on the MCAS? Also, I am wondering how teachers teach what was not learned when many of them do not even have textbooks or materials? Perhaps Dr. Latham needs to stop investing in data coaches and start investing in an inventory process to first make sure every teacher and classroom has the necessary books and materials so teachers can actually teach the children.

    2. I'VE HEARD ABOUT LACK OF PENCIL PROBLEMS.

    3. You don't like charter,schools...they drill, drill, drill, have books pencils and lots of educated community support. You don't like that LPS is trying to figure out which kids are not proficient in what by analysizing their test data. You deny that most parents are not invested in their children's education in Lynn. You are somehow unaware that lots of non English speaking students are coming into our schools all te time... Can't even read in their own languages. I think you live in some parallel universe Lets buy lots of new pencils and that will solve everything!
