MY INNOVATIVE PROPOSAL

Well, maybe it's not my idea, it's really a conglomerate of a lot of people ideas and it's really not that innovative because other people are trying to implement at least parts of it. But it makes me feel smart to say I've got this idea.I know I'm not as smart as all these school people but you know what they say about faking it.

Okay, everybody wants a better education, a better school for their kids. We have overcrowding issues at our middle schools. Projections are that even with the increase in size granted by the MSBA the new MARSHALL is still going to be small. Then there are the students packed into BREED like sardines.

My solution (as it was mine or even original) is the establishment of a STEM based middle school right were the administration have their offices. I mean they are moving to BENNETT STREET didn't they say now. We have all those labs right next door at TECH and they could put EXCITEMENT into education. I mean they kind of already tried with the wildly successful CAMP EXPLORER last summer. If I am not mistaken (and you all know my track record) I think that was DR. WARRY'S baby.

Then there is all that WRAP-AROUND stuff. It's that new concept in education that says we got to be concern with all aspects of a kids life that affects his access to education. That new, old stuff has been going on at the FORD SCHOOL for twenty years.

So I am proposing we bring together all of these ideas, MARRY (it is a favorite word of mine) them if you will into a new innovative, INNOVATION MIDDLE SCHOOL at 90 Commercial Street. Here comes my one original contribution to the idea, we could call it CRANE'S ACADEMY.

I admit I might have stolen the name ACADEMY from PLATO or ARISTOTLE, one of those old, dead Greek guys but I don't think they will say anything. As for the CRANE'S part, maybe I was thinking of the beach up IPSWICH way. Yeah sure, that was it.

Anyway it was just a thought, a poor poet with his muse musing.
