Lynn CFO says charter school costs 'a killer'
You see I've been racking my brain for almost three years why I could never find the line for CHARTER SCHOOL COSTS in the school budget. Silly me, it wasn't there.
Working magic that only can make, the money was moved from outside the lines. These guys are pretty good investors if I do say. Think about tallies from these tables. For an investment of 21 million dollars, a return of over 10 million dollars will be paid this year alone and this dividend is guaranteed to rise. Sure there are additional costs associated with conducting class but I still like those profit margins.
JUST HOW LONG IS THE AVERAGE LIFESPAN FOR A SCHOOL IN LYNN?
YOU DO THE MATH, MY HEAD HURTS.
So if you closed KIPP and the other charter schools serving Lynn children, where would you send the children? Aren't children in Lynn entitled to a quality education equal to what other towns are offering their children and not forced to attend overcrowded failing schools? Education is expensive - Charter schools are required by law to have a lottery to make as fair as can for poor disadvantaged often minorities to have an equal education. Some parents are very happy to have that choice.
ReplyDeleteThe lottery - let's talk about the lottery. A REAL one, one that is not RIGGED gives everyone an even chance. Ah but this one you see requires parents to commit to an investment of time that the TRULY poor disadvantaged people that you so altruistically care about are too busy taking your order for fast food or doing your yard work to participate. Does that sound fair and above board to you? It's not a CHOICE I would make.
ReplyDeleteWhy doesn't Revere Ma have charter schools draining their budget? Because they are dedicated to good, neighborhood, PUBLIC schools. The super there is really super as is the school committee. 4 new schools in 10 years.
