Lynn School Budget Download (PDF) |
With an increased budget this year, given that we hope yo build a new middle school and the state of most of the others if they weren't schools might come porilously close yo being CONDEMED that about 2/3 of that increase will go to salaries.
WHAT ABOUT BRICKS AND BOOKS?
I would love to hear the justification for an increase of over $12,500,000 in a 4 year period for salaries, yet only an increase of $151,000 in non-salary items, AKA books, textbooks, classroom supplies, and other crucial resources for students to use (remember the students?) Salaries account for 80% of the entire school department budget. Does anyone still wonder why Lynn Public Schools is one of the lowest performing districts in the state? I guess it sure does pay to be employed by LPS (except for many teachers and para's of course) but unfortunately, not to be student!
ReplyDeleteUnless they are planning on extending the school day (as KIPP does) and a longer school year, there is no justification for all these raises. You are right about being great to work in Lynn - even most of the administration people in LPS have summers off and just about all make over $75,000 which is more than 80% of the people in the US earn.
ReplyDeleteI think I saw something before about the secretary salaries so I looked for them in the budget.I could not believe it.They do get paid a lot of money.I wonder if the teachers regret spending a fortune for their college educations, instead of becoming a secretary here and made just as much,if not more money without owing any student loans.
