Lynn’s bond rating upgraded to ‘A’
Here's how I see it. Our most Honorable MAYOR likes to tout her fiscal responsibility and present it as evidence as a reason why she should be re-elected while at the same time CITY COUNCIL PRESIDENT TIM PHELAN who is the subject of some rumors about having some political aspirations for her corner office seems to downplay the importance of this development. Now FORTUCCI who was involved in a cat fight earlier between the MAYOR and CITY COUNCIL over city finances and accounting seems to be siding with PHELAN'S ASSESSMENT.
Now PHELAN doesn't want to give KENNEDY too much credit so as to give voters a reason to choose him over her.
I just wonder how our BOND rating is going to look once we take on 20 to 30 million dollars of debt after we build the new school. Also why do we even have to raise taxes to service a new debt to pay for our portion of the new school when we have such a big rainy day fund? You know check the weather outside. Let's break out our umbrellas and set aside some of that surplus. specially designated to cover this proposed BOND debt.
Let's come out now and give property owners peace of mind that their taxes won't go UP.
How come EVERY city and town around us Salem, Malden , swampsscott, Peabody, Saugus, etc etc have new schools and lynn does not?????
ReplyDeleteBecause those town's school administrators had new schools built and Lynn's did not.For the past couple of decades, building new schools and improving the physcial condition of our very old and decrepit schools has never been a top priority for our school administrators.Life's all about choices, and unfortunately Lynn rarely has highly qualified leaders who make sound decisions(unless of course it's to benefit themselves)
DeleteStanley,
ReplyDeleteYou have got to be kidding me that you can't see who would lead our city into a better future...it's a disgrace the way some are slandering, getting their friends to give people a hard time, and the top dog does nothing to stop the bullying going on by administators in the schools...people are starting to form together and seek out counsel to stop the nonsense...one thing I can say is Tim Phelan is not afraid to say stop it, try to work together, and wouldn't participate in backing bullies who eventually are going to cost the city money...please you know you haven't been satisfied with the Mayor so don't EVEN START COMPARING THEM...Tim is a man and one who is a lawyer...he knows the laws and is not going to jeopardize his career...she is a lawyer, but real estate law isn't how you run city...come on Stanley get another topic to talk about...let's tell the truth who is going up on the taxes, who doesn't say no, and let's people go through their days being bullied pretending she is so damn innocent...why are you hiding Stanley just blogging...haven't seen you out at meetings...how come? Yeah you know your frustrated and disgusted just say it...
Tim Phelan "wouldn't participate in backing bullies" Actually,he did just that when he signed and forwarded a letter to the school committee supporting Dr.Latham without even attending the public hearing to listen to the experiences parents have had and their concerns. She is one of the biggest bullies working for the city.I suppose the fact his wife works for Latham had nothing to do with his support.Give me a break! This city needs a mayor who stops supporting our failing schools and those who continue to lead them to failure.
DeleteHere, here. We need a MAYOR who uses a different tailor so we don't end up with one cut from the same cloth.
DeleteUnfortunately we currently have a Mayor who has done just that "supported" Latham,Capano, Ford and Gallo. The Mayor has no spine and is scared to take a stand. She can never be found when it really matters. Her office is a joke, she is a joke! She has not once voted for our children!
ReplyDeleteNothing will change until she is gone and back driving a GLSS car. She is classless, clueless and just priceless!!! One for the record books in Lynn!!!
Let's just consider these soon to be four years
"Lynn's Dark Days"......Time to bring back Lynn and take pride in our city!
Also, plenty of people sitting on the school committtee have family members who work for LPS,DPW and other high city positions. So much for cleaning house of nepotism. The Mayor is going around the city trying to buy votes and make deals to get re-elected. Will never happen!!! After attending numerous Lynn Demo meetings, things are heating up.......
She needs to watchout for Brendan Crighton and the Lynn Demo party!
Gallo, Ford, Crighton all Demo supporters. That is who the Mayor should really be concerned with.
You are not the first person to throw BRENDAN;S name around. I hope he does.
