New KIPP building to welcome students next week
I have said many times before that I DO NOT like the funding mechanism of KIPP. I think the mixing of PUBLIC with PRIVATE dollars presents an almost irresistible opportunity for ABUSE.
BUT.....
that being said some students are getting a NEW building with promised state-of-the-art technology. On the other hand, LPS is faced with overcrowded, 100 year old buildings. The administrative monstrosity of PUBLIC EDUCATION is too slow to respond in a timely manner to keep up with current needs.
Have I partaken of the Kool-Aid and am now calling for the building of little KIPP KLUSTERS all acrooss the city? Well don't hold your breath but then again some of you can.
What the apparent success of KIPP'S KONSTRUCTION is is a clear signal that we need to reform the administration of PUBLIC EDUCATION so that it can concentrate on the business at hand instead of handing us the business.
Counting beans is okay once the crop has been raised but we need to spend more time growing the plant.
