IN CASE THE ITEM DOESN'T PRINT IT

Dear Editor,

Recently the MASSCHUSETTS DEPARTMENT OF SECONDAR EDUCATION has that Lynn Public School has not been recognized as having an Innovation School points out a glaring inaccuracy in a recent article on the new Washington School. The journalistic integrity of this newspaper demands that a correction be made. Failure to do so may leave the impression of complicity in the deception.

I am sure that your further investigation and reporting will be forthcoming.

  1. When the principal was appointed he was appointed as principal of a STEM school. That is from the school committee minutes, August 2 . See no mention of anything else there. Making a mountain out of a mole hill AGAIN .?

    1. Then there must be some misunderstanding on both the Item's and the principal's part. He's calling himself the founding principal of Washington STEM Innovation school:

LPS needs to take down the Innovation school announcement and explain what's going on.

    2. Anonymous 11:40.....You must have missed the article in the Lynn Item, as well as the long announcement posted on LPS website where it is clearly being proclaimed that the Washington School is not only an innovation school, but Lynn's first innovation school. This in false! Whether the minutes from the school meeting state otherwise or not is irrelevant, but not surprising. Dr. Latham is famous for putting on an act in front of an audience and making misleading or false comments and then later trying to slither her way out of a situation and try to make it seem as though the rest of us are the ones mistaken (as in this case) What she typically is not prepared for is someone calling her out on her BS, which has been done in this case. As usual, her response is to not respond because she cannot handle being challenged.

  2. Good work Stanley for pointing out the junk that the Daily Item prints. Of course, they must have consulted with the Mayor and Dr. Latham before print time!
    No Innovation Schools in Lynn.
KIPP is what we now call the innovation schools in Lynn!
Thanks to the current school committee, Mayor and Super Latham not taking action on behalf of our children! We are always looking at what could have been in Lynn!!!

    1. I am still waiting for them to tell me how this school is even going to be INNOVATIVE, much less how it is going to be an INNOVATION SCHOOL.

  3. Ok Stanley! Thanks for following up on this!
I am sure you are going to get the run around.
Look at other districts and how they are running their "Innovation Schools". Latham and her cronies are full of bull! She has most scared and current school committee members doing what she wants! What the Queen whats she gets! Thanks to Mayor Judy and her do nothing attitude. We were better off with Clancy! I can not believe I am saying it, but it is true!!!!
