FROM: LYNN CITY WATCH

COUNCIL COMES THROUGH FOR CATHE

I want to thank the LYNN CITY COUNCIL for their 11th hour unanimous support for DR. LATHAM. I'm glad to see them finally take a stand for the children of LYNN. I understand that they were too busy over a month ago to listen to, not endorse my efforts to launch a petition drive. I even sent TERRY YOUNG a LETTER. I mean they had to fight for those union jobs in BOSTON.

Then they were preoccupied pronouncing their preference for UNION PERSONAL CARE ATTENDANT jobs statewide.Important business, just not LYNN'S business.

If I knew they were going to read letters into the record, I would have asked my MOM to write one. I figure she knows as much about how education stands in LYNN as COUNCILMAN CYR.

    1. I sent the letter as an e mail and it didn't bounce back like the ones I send to LPS

  2. Phelan is the puppet master. Could be that Cyr created the motion Phelan wanted.

  3. I have to admit COUNCILMAN CYR doesn't seem to have too many original thoughts

  4. I sent an email to the entire council expressing the fact that I was concerned they were not aware of the actual condition of our failing and under-performing schools and district, especially since Mr. Cyr made the statement that our middle schools were just as good as any. I informed them that 2 out of our 3 middle schools were level 3 schools and in danger of becoming level 4 schools. My email stated that my concerns about LPS are based on actual facts provided by the DOE, as well as my own personal experiences with LPS and asked each of them what they based their decision on. I also asked if any of them had children in the Lynn Public School system and if any of them have actually visited and spent any significant time in any of our schools or classrooms. They of course are entitled to their own opinion and feelings, but they should at least have some concrete facts to back up their letter of support. As of today, the only one to respond was Peter Capano.

    1. I don't know how they could know they even refused to acknowledge the parents concern. Funny because parents vote.

    2. Perhaps parents/voters should start approaching our councilman with their questions and concerns when they see them out and about at public events or just hanging around local restaurants and taverns? It's easy to ignore a parent/voter's email, it's not so easy to ignore someone when they are face to face and there may be an audience.

  5. At least call it by the right name ...DESE. Not DOE...that bugs me

    2. Dear yet another person named anonymous:

I am pretty sure the DOE stands for Dept. of Education, but I will make a conscious effort to use DESE in the future just for you.
