IT DOESN'T ADD UP

This is nice but you got to wonder who should be taking and who should be teaching. We are at the precise of a summer of renovation because of an injection of FREE CASH that when we come to find out wasn't really FREE in the first place because of an oversight that led yo the underestimate of our financial obligations.

This financial miscue came after our MAYOR publicly questioned the superintendent's fiscal acuity in a public performance evaluation,  Months after her report card, our superintendent handed out double digit raises to SELECT principals, saving the biggest, a $25,000 one, for herself. All the while those at the front lines of our classroom battles saw a less than 3% raise. I guess this is how we support our troops.

SCHOOL COMMITTEE

  1. The good thing is this new program will hopefully teach kids how to handle their OWN finances. As for the current school administration, school committee included since they do the voting, it's easy to spend money any way you want when it's not your money your spending and you don't have kids who attend Lynn schools! You know one area where the 6 figures given out in raises to administrators would have been better spent? How about for interpretation and translation services for the roughly 54% of our student population and their parents who don't speak English as their first language? Or the 17% of our student population who have limited English proficiency? Perhaps if LPS had decided to put that money toward providing these required services, there wouldn't be a need for the Office for Civil Rights to conduct an investigation? Just a thought!
