HOW TO HANDLE HOLLY

This has been a LONG running story. When I first broke it prior to the Civil Service ruling, it became my most viewed posting by around twice as much, having 663 views, "Public Confidential". A lot has happened since then but not much has changed.
The Department of Civil Service has issued a ruling but no one really wants to enforce it, because justice costs too much. We have two different legal systems, one criminal, one civil. "Criminal" is simple if LPS had used a gun and fired at Holly taking away her job like in a robbery, the police could go down to 90 Commercial Street with a basketful of handcuffs and throw the lot of them in the poky. BREAD AND WATER.
But this is a "Civil" matter. When you hear the word Civil it conjures up images of a "gentleman's agreement" where everybody does the right thing because it's the right thing to do. Unfortunately I know from personal (not personnel) experience if someone disagrees with the ruling they can often just not abide by it. There is nobody close to actually enforce it. By the time failure to follow the civil ruling becomes criminal enough to get someone to enforce it, most people have already given up. So the losers become winners by just dragging their feet.
That is what is happening here. Holly has been humiliated in hopes that she would submit to will of the master at our expense. It's not about money only. Mostly it is the politics of power.

  1. Well Stanley...u have the game they are tryin to play, but it is CRIMINAL...after speaking to them I realized it holds a 1 year in jail and $1,000 fine for each of them that allowed this to happen...they need to wake up before it costs the city and the rest of us a bundle...someone who does their job gets the boot...why doesn't the School Committee do what they were elected to do and admit they voted to cut her position unnecessarily without even talking to her...VOTE THE SC OUT!

TIME FOR CHANGE...GET OUT AND VOTE PEOPLE!

    SICK OF THE

  2. Granted it is CRIMINAL to me, but just get someone to enforce the law. Unfortunately we can only vote two out and from the looks of the primary it might be the wrong two, You are right, it's all about getting the vote out to vote them out.

  3. STANLEY YOU DON'T GET IT...IT'S CRIMINAL AND THAT'S WHY IT'S GONE TO THE PAPER...THE ADMINISTRATION AND ELECTED OFFICIALS ARE NOT DOING THEIR JOB...THEY ALLOWED MS. SHORTEN TO BE BULLIED...THEY DON'T FOLLOW THEIR OWN RULES...STOP BACKING THEM THEY NEED TO BE OFF THE COMMITTEE CAUSE THEY TOLD HER THEY HAVE NO POWER...INSTEAD THEY HAVE THEIR FAMILIES WORKING IN THE SCHOOLS...GEEEZZZ HOW DID THEY DO THAT WITHOUT POWER....HMMMMMMMMMM!

  4. I am clearly on the side of Holly, Anon., nut the thing is I do get it. The line between civil and criminal is at best blurry. The fact that you can't get anyone to enforce it is frustrating. The law should be the law.

  7. And to you Stan, you must remember that with great power comes great responsibility. How many discussions have we had about the power of you blog and how it has the potential to influence everyone who reads it? Stop saying the bottom two SC members were the wrong two to get voted out during the primary. I agree that Rick needs to do more work to get back into the top six, I'm sure Maria is going to pull up into a higher slot as well meaning that Ford will be the one to go. But unless we lose Gotta Go Capano there is no reason to gain Gallo. I've heard a lot of talk that Coppola, Carrasco and Starbard haven't done anything during their stints on SC and I'd argue that they couldn't. It's hard to make a change when your not in the majority. Mark my words, if we don't keep Coppola, Carrasco, Starbard and gain DiFillipo then we wont make any headway. The people of Lynn can't dispute the fact that they stopped Dr. Super from spending more of our money on an unnecessary position and they voted against McHugh from getting a raise. Not to mention that they are the only members that are repeatedly bringing up new evaluations for Dr. Super. Gotta Go, GQ and F.O.R.D. think Dr. Super is doing a great job! You'd think Gotta Go was applying for a job within LPS after the Dr.Latham-is-so-great litany she read off during the SC debate.

We need a winning combination, not more of the same. If Gallo had kids in LPS, had a real platform that you could stand behind (DiFillipo has SPED, Starbard has Tech) and if his sights weren't set on political positions beyond SC then I'd say, "Give him a try." He'll just end up being another Cahill, and personally I didn't vote for either of them in the primaries.

  8. Wow Melissa, do you mean somebody other than you and my mother read my ridiculous ramblings? Well Gallo is my fifth choice and we gotta have six on the LSC. I realize voting for less than six statistically increases their chances but you brought up that responsibility thing and well I feel it is my responsibility to rank them as I see them. Is my blog really that powerful? I had NO idea.

  9. Melissa, I guess GQ is more than a snappy dresser, he can split hairs too. Thanks for reminding me about the "NO LAYOFFS" comment. Do people really read this BLOG?

  11. Well Stanley did you check out the comments on Itemlive.com...it clearly states Holly did her job and helped children as well as saved alot of law suits...I too went to her for help and she sent me to the appropriate staff member and my issues were resolved...she calmed me right down, showed me respect, and told me go ahead and yell at her and get it all out...I ended up laughing instead of yelling at the bosses...they don't know how much she cared about the children and LPS...she's missed and a true loss to the special education department...she would always go out of her way to get me to the correct person to help my child...many times I saw her treated very unprofessionally...why doesn't the School Committee wake up and do the right thing...PUT HER BACK,GIVE HER PAY BACK, AND STOP THE ADMIN. FROM BULLYING THIS GIRL...SC needs to do their job and stop this, fix it, and set an example for the children of Lynn, or resign from the SC!

  12. You just gave me an idea. I'd like to file a bullying complaint on behalf of Holly, with the LPS. You can do it easy enough via the LPS website and the standards clearly state that all instances of bullying will be investigated and that LPS will not tolerate bulling.

I'll list the victim as Holly and the perpetrator as, well I guess I've got my pick of names, don't I?

While I'm there I might as well fill out one for Deb Stone too, considering that I was a witness to her being publicly bullied by LPS' #1 bully herself!
