I got no favorites but somebody ought to pay (besides the other 350 school districts whose taxpayers will be supporting us) for putting LPS in te precarious position of having to beg for millions of crumbs.
Options are"
1) The MAYOR - she does have the responsibility of submitting the budget. She is te only one who can change the numbers. She just got re-elected for four more years.
2). DR. LATHAM - While she HAS to work with what she is given, she had to know te schools were underfunded and should have been squawking. And her contract is almost up for renewal.
3). KEVIN MCHUGH - Again he can only work wit the numbers he is given....BUT....doesn'the have a RESPONSIBILITY to sound te alarm? Especially since he probably is the MOST qualified in this area. http://m.itemlive.com/news/lynn-school-board-picks-new-business-administrator/article_5688f672-741b-5740-81d9-6cb2e487bf01.html?mode=jqm
4) Chuck wants to wipe this under the rug with a legislative waiver.
ReplyDeleteFunny Chuck. Is it hypocritical to point fingers at your opponent Crighton for trying to 'correct the same errors' with council and mayor salaries?
ReplyDeleteBe fair! CHUCK is a lawyer. Don't they take the HYPOCRITS oath? Then again, I may be thinking of doctors.
DeleteFix errors with council and mayor salaries! They nearly doubled their salaries and added great benefit package. Fix errors - they wanted money and slipped it through before the budget hearings - hardly a good deed on councilor's side. Charlie was brave to call out Brendan at debate - it was selfish of the whole group - and then add to that the higher property tax we all pay now
DeleteAnon, 12:58
DeleteCharlie is not brave. He didn't stand up in opposition to the ridiculous ruling at City Council, during the public hearing, so he would not look against Mayor and other councilors and not loose their voters.
There is the hypocrisy again!
DeleteHey guys! Charlie said he was friends with Brendan. oh, right. the hypocrisy thingy again? At least Crighton kept his class.
DeleteAs yourself why Donna is holding Crighton's sign and not Gallo's.
DeleteIm not defending Brendan, but Charlie should have made an appearance at the public hearing to be on the record. Otherwise, Charlie is just bantering Brendan in the eyes of the law.
DeleteJust wondering, did CHARLIE say he was refusing to acceptte NEW benefit package with new raises. Now that would be brade.
DeleteSC just sent a memo to council to be removed from home rule petition, but NO SC member stood up at council hearing to tell them the salary hike was wrong, to defend the school budget. I heard SC members were in the room but none went to the mic!
DeleteFair
ReplyDeletehttp://www.bitterlawyer.com/a-difference-in-oaths/
The focus of the Hippocratic Oath for Doctors is the patient; the focus of the lawyer’s oath is the lawyer himself. To a physician, this is a sign that lawyers do not care about helping their clients.
The enemy of a medical patient is his own body or illness.
DeleteIn contrast, the enemy of a legal client is the law or an opposing party.
HEY,wait a second. Our fine MAYOR is a lawyer! Uh.....
DeleteNo kidding. Look at her behavior
DeleteBack to the point. Chuck wants to wipe the sins of the Mayor's school budget under the rug with a legislative waiver, YET YEY he didn't show FACE at the public hearing to oppose the home rule petition for a legislative waiver to up the Mayor's salary.
ReplyDeleteLawyers oath is required to make no oath.
You are right the LPS budget is a sin but I would even go so far as it is almost a CRIME. IF the waiver gets signed into law there is NO guaratee that the penalties will be waived. The MAYOR is just playing a HIGH STAKES version of EDUCATIONAL chickhen/
