I know there has been a lot of talk about how the next city council ought to be more willing to work with the mayor because she had such an overwhelming victory over her opponent. I would like to remind everybody that her vote total was only 3 more than mine,(3 to 1 that is.) You would think she should be able to have her way with whomever.
BUT......
think about it. You only have to look at the school committee vote to put that prognosis into perspective. My GOOD friend DONNA COPPOLA topped the ticket (I got a few less)......
YET......
often times she is on the losing end of any political power plays. On a few occasions She has even been the sole vote.
In the debates, particularly in the one at the FORD SCHOOL, it was pointed out the importance of the FOURTH vote to get things changed. The FOURTH and tie-breaking VOTE has been the MAYOR.
The results are in and nothing has changed. We have DONNA'S mandate, we have the MAYOR'S mandate, and my MANDATE (To stay reporting the NEWS!).
