You could see the concern and feel the concern for the SAFETY of the little children as I listen to the crossing guard at FORD SCHOOL because of all the traffic congestion at the start of school and dismissal. With the addition of the KINDERGARTEN buses and even the loss of parking spaces for the unloading of the bus, the chaos is only increasing as the temperatures decrease. The scary thing is we haven't had SNOW yet.
The increasing traffic is partly due to the closeness of KIPP and their arrivals and dismissals which probably did not play a prominent enough of a role in consideration of the initial plan.
Probably the saddest thing is that it is NOVEMBER and the cross-walks need painted. The elections are over and I guess everybody is too tired to paint.
How bout somebody just give us a can of paint and some brushes, I bet I could organize some parents to do the job. It would be like a BARN RAISING just like back home.
Wasn't a problem when the annex buses were running. Why is this different? Also the ford, buses to tke students to,after school programs compound the issue. Maybe someone needs to come up,with a better traffic plan instead of complaining. Just saying...
ReplyDeleteYou are so smart. In your complaining about my complaining you put forth a solution - BUS THE OLDER KIDS! I have suggested other options, search my past posts or do you need a ticket?
DeleteWhen the 5 th graders were bused they missed at least an hour a day of instructional time. They take up more room and caused a lot more problems on the buses. Their education, emotional, and physychological needs are much more complicated . Lets face it. And how does that solve a traffic problem???
ReplyDeleteI agree with you on the missing of instructional.time. BUSING IS BAD. Now that we got that out of the way, if you have to us older kids are better cognitively developed and have more emotional tools to mitigate the situation (I sound smart, don't I?)
DeleteThat is why I suggested renting space for the short term until a better comprehensive plan could be developed.
