You know it's kind of funny, in an ironic sort pf way. Being a poet even if only a poor disabled one, I love me some IRONY. Tomorrow is TEACHER APPRECIATION luncheon at PICKERING. I am sure there are festivities throughout the district. The administration says:\
"Let them eat cake!"
All the while, they are telling the teachers:
"Sorry, you can't pray to our Gods because we get the day off and you don't.Nah nah,ne, nah nah!"
Seems the ADMINISTRATORS UNION (have you seen their salaries? I want to join THAT union.) grieved the fact that their religious holidays were taken away in 2007 and won.
Now the teachers have similar language in their contract. It seems like the fair thing to do would be to extend the same right to be religious to them. \
WHAT'S GOOD FOR THE GOOSE IS GOOD FOR THE GANDER!
Not so fast Keem o sabe!
In order for the TEACHERS to practice their religion they have to take personal or vacation days. I guess you have to blame the teachers though, I mean it's a tactical mistake. You see they don;t PRAY to the same CASH COW as do the administrators.
Did you look at the pay for the administrative staff (those are high paid school secretaries!) - and of teachers who will be off for the summer very soon and you want them taking more time off?
ReplyDeleteI think it is disgraceful that secretaries are getting paid more than teachers!$70,000 for just one of the super's secretaries and almost $100,000 for the school committee secretary?Ridiculous!Meanwhile most teachers are getting paid around $40-$60,000.I also couldn't believe the district's compliance officer gets paid over $111,000 when the district is obviously not compliant in many areas, including this recent civil rights case.Just what exactly is she being paid for?
DeleteTeachers don't get paid vacation days. Teachers get paid for 182 days per year ...3 personal days, 15 sick days .That is what they get paid for. The summer is reserved for taking courses at teachers' own expense, working summer camps, doing reading for the next school, year, etc , etc. ,oh yeah nights and weekends during the school year are reserved for unpaid meetings, correcting papers, planning , taking mandatory classes they don't get paid for, paying for course themselves that they need to take. Most teachers do the job solely for the money...haha
ReplyDeletePlus it's a matter of respect and dignity - JUSTICE. Not to mention hidden deep in the line items of the LPS budget are reimbursement schedule for administrators for things teachers have to pay for out of pocket. It's good to be the QUEEN
