LIL' LORI LISTENS TO LATHAM'S LULLABY AND DOESN'T BUY
I received the full agreement between LPS and OCR. I posted some of the details on your blog. Even though it is clear that the OCR did not believe LPS was in compliance, Dr. Latham still would not and does not admit or acknowledge any violations of any laws. Does this really surprise anyone?? It certainly does not surprise me! If LPS is in fact in compliance as Dr. Latham claims, why then are they required by the OCR to fulfill the many terms and obligations of this agreement or face possible administrative or judicial proceedings to enforce them? She needs to just face the facts and give up the charade!

I am also extremely disappointed in our school committee for not taking any action on this issue over the past year. It has been brought to their attention numerous times. Due to their failure to act, 3 complaints were filed with the OCR. This led to an investigation and ultimately an agreement. In this agreement, LPS is required to do most, if not all of the things parents have been requesting them to do now for over a year. I know some members, like Maria have also had this issue placed on the agenda, again with no success or action taken by the full committee. This is just another example of our school committee not doing their research and gathering information on topics brought to their attention and/or being discussed. I am happy with the terms of the agreement and I think this was a huge victory and step in the right direction!!
