WHY ARE WE LETTING LATHAM LANGUISH? IS HER NEW CONTRACT A BUDGET BUSTER?

Now I'm not much of a troublemaker. Well, maybe a little. Maybe the LSC don't remember but us parents, we lost the hearing thing. You've already voted to EXTEND the contract of DR. LATHAM. Why haven't you already?

Come on, let's do it already. What's the hold-up? Wait maybe it's because we the people would be entitled to the PUBLIC INFORMATION.

I admit, I was a little surprised last night at the LSC meeting when after speaking at OPEN-MIKE, I got a round of applause after pointing out the comparative RAISES of KEVIN MCHUGH, BUSINESS MANAGER, TEACHERS, AND FIREFIGHTERS but then wondering why a couple weeks have passed since the DUO of DEPUTY DIVAS signed their contract and we still don't know the details.

Now if we don't know the facts, I'll have to start making things up. Don't worry, I'm a POET, I can do that. I have a license, a CREATIVE LICENSE.

Sometimes though, my information is not completely WRONG. It's all in how you slice the data. An old MATH teacher taught me that.

  1. Hi Stanley,
I attended the school committee meeting last night. I am one of the numerous parents who spoke about the concerns and isssues at Shoemaker & Pickering schools. I am shocked and disappointed that the Item and you have not spoke about any of what was said at "open mic." It was also surprising to me that Capano shows up after we voiced our concerns and ALL board members appeared like they had NO IDEA what we were talking about. They ALL need to visit the schools and talk to the parents and teachers to see what is really going on. We will not let this go! So, I would appreciate you learning more about this and talk more about "What is wrong with the LPS".
Just because Shoemaker is in Ward 1, it is over looked. But, the PTO will not let this go! So jump on the band wagon Stanley!!!

    1. Why are you shocked about what the ITEM said? NO NEWS is old news with the paper. My son goes to PICKERING and confirms the bathroom thing.

I attended last night's meeting and I SPOKE at Open-mike.
I mentioned the BATHROOM in a previous post. You are RIGHT about most of the LSC having no clue. PARENTS UNITE!

As for the bandwagon thing, I'M THE ONE WHO STARTED THE WAGON ROLLING.

  2. I am glad you spoke, it would have been nice if they had the mic's on. They blamed Lynn Cam, but I am sure the ycould have figured it out themselves. I think that was done on purpose! I did hear you and you are right! The Shoemaker PTO is united and will continue to work toward the goal of making sure our children get what they deserve!
After ALL, we are paying the highest taxes in Lynn (we are always reminded of this fact). So, they need to start putting some money into Shoemaker School....

  3. I really believe that their are courses that are required they take when dealing with parents who have problems with the schools..I get the same thing when I bring it to their attention that my special needs child is not progressing the way he should and all i get is "Oh we think he's doing fine..We don;t see any problems..Such a fine child.." a smile and a nod...wish they would stop playing games and give what is needed..Oh yes and not to speak about all the things we have donated, such as kleenex...lisol spray..wipes...etc...to try and keep our schools supplied....

    1. I contacted every principal in our district to find out if they had a PTO and if so, who the contact person was. The reason for this is because I and others want to contact as many parents as possible from EVERY school to find out what issues EVERY school is having and thought contacting the PTO's would be a good start. Unfortunately, it was like pulling teeth to get some principals to respond and as of today, the one's who still have not responded are Mr. Strangie from English, Mrs. Durgin-Scully from Fecteau Leary, Mrs. Cole from Bricket, Mr. Murphy from Pickering, Mrs. Franklin from Sisson, and Ms. Conway from Washington. Dr. Latham leads this failing district and sets the example and belief that parents are a burden, not worth the time and that we do not deserve a response, and many of her subordinates follow her example. As for our school committee members, I missed the meeting last night, but it does not surprise me AT ALL that Patti Capano strolled in late or that the committee members appeared as though they had no idea what you were talking about. Some of them have admitted that they typically find out about what is going on in the schools only when they read about it in the Item. I have also suggested every member visit our schools and talk to parents, students and teachers. The problem is, they need permission from the principals and Dr. Latham to do this. Therefore, even if permission were to be granted, I am sure everyone in the building would be notified ahead of time and they would make sure things appeared to be just wonderful I am sure.

    2. Lori,
I am glad to hear that you are making every effort to contact the PTO's at every school. As for the Shoemaker, parents have been calling the various SC members and they are wel laware of our concerns, however, none have stepped up to the plate to try and help or work with us! It has been a very long and disappointing process. It is amazing that most Sc memebrs do not know their roles and I was told by Administration (can not disclose source)that Maria Carrassco never took or completed her SC member requirement. Which is a mandatory training on ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES. WHY? Yet, she is still there and gets paid/insurance.....WELCOME TO AMERICA! Where you can still get paid and NOT do your job! Nothing is going to chaneg for us or our children until we BULLET VOTE in some one with a child in the LPS system and is willing to SPEAK UP and not SHUT UP and follow the leaders.....

  4. Unfortunately we'd need to BULLET VOTE in more then one candidate. Which is contrary to bullet voting. The SC needs four members to vote for the parents, children and teachers of Lynn. Presently we only have three, sometimes we only have two. We need four. A bullet vote wont do it.
