DOLLAR DAZE - PARENT POINTS OUT POTENTIAL PADDING

Last year the SPED department budgeted a whole position for PARENT LIAISON at $52,310. However the position remained empty for around two years until it was filled by a part time person.
I don't know if the pay was part-time.

Because I know some of you out there like transparency, I applied for that job and was not only not given an interview, I didn't even get a a letter acknowledging my application.

It is my understanding that a PARENT LIAISON is supposed to work with PARENTS and a good way would be to go to PAC meetings. Well what started out as attendance at half the meeting evolved into total absence. Did her pay stop when she quit doing her job?

I don't know but I see that it is budgeted for a whole position at $52,310 again this year. I wonder what we will get.

  1. I guess they forgot that the Consent Decree mandated this very position...this position kept Lynn from being taken over by receivorship and is necessary...Debbie Stone performed this position as dictated by the DOE, now DESE...she did a great job, got injured while on the job in a terrible car crash due to relocation, and she is another one who was a target to terminate...my question is WHERE IS THE MAYOR and why doesn't she talk to people before they are harrassed and eventually terminated...we all know the mysterious game these administrators play...aren't we suppose to set examples for the children and parents...THEN MAYOR KENNEDY WHERE ARE YOU, WHY YOU ALLOWING THIS TO GO ON, AND AREN'T YOU THE FINAL SAY IN THE CITY...such a disappointment to many of us who supported you...you can bet the next election you won't have our support and should be putting an end to the bullying conducted by administrators...School Committee should also wake up before their named in a law suit by one of the employees for Failure to represent the community, allowing terminations and harrassment to continue, and not doing one thing to meet with all parties involved and stop the childish ways...let's put things back to normal instead of the embarrassment and chaos in our city...Stanley, you mention you're disabled have you thought about filing with the Mass Labor Commission, Civil Rights in Boston, Mass Commission Against Discrimination, Disability Rights in Boston, and what do you suffer from maybe there's some organization that would love to handle your applying and being unprofessional ignored...this is just not acceptable...sorry for your mistreatment! Keep applying and keep copies of everything...go for it Stan the Man!

  2. I think all us parents and taxpayers need to get together and file one big civil lawsuit against LPS and the city!
