CATHE CUTS CLASS TO SHOOT AT THE MOON

At the LSC meeting Thursday night, I would be remiss if I didn't mention the other PARENT concern at OPEN-MIC. I never MISS a chance to cause trouble, so why would I RE-MISS one.

Seems like there is going to be a SHOWDOWN AT SHOEMAKER. parents are a problem there for LPS, no not problem parents. I know from personal experience. TRIPPY used to go there. Back then I was just a concerned parent, not much of the troublemaker I've become. Parents there are active and organized. Of course, my involvement then was before MRS. MANN retired and the GREAT LEVEL 4 PRINCIPAL SHUFFLE. "No you see her, now you don't".

Sounds to me like they are losing a 1st grade classroom. Now from what I gather, (here I go with that fact thing again. Remember I have a license) the main concern is a LACK OF OPTIONS. Just wait, you'll be singing a different tune next fall when your kids start playing musical chairs to find a seat (Hey didn't we just win some NATIONAL DISTINCTION for our music department?).

Don't worry, you can put the overflow with the librarian. OH YEAH,I THINK DR. LATHAM CUT OUT THE LIBRARIAN TOO A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO. There should be plenty of shelving for all of your textbooks. You do have textbooks, don't you?

Now how can you expect us to pay for those undisclosed DEPUTY RAISES if we don't cut back somewhere? DR. LATHAM'S request for a raise MUST BE A DUESY if after two TOP-SECRET EXECUTIVE SESSIONS they haven't NEGOTIATED it. Our kids will be taking  quite a LUMP FOR HER BUMP!

  1. The whole situation makes me shake my head. We can clearly see what the superintendent's priorities are. (How much of a raise has she been trying to negotiate while we close down classrooms and libraries? The KIDS are the ones suffering for her and her posse's big paychecks)
Are we still wondering why the Lynn School system is so awful?
Maybe the NEXT superintendent will care more about the kids.

  2. Does anyone know how many kids are scheduled to be in that class? Maybe there are less than what is in 1st grade now, that will be moving to 2nd?

  3. First of all, thank you Stanley for making this public on your blog. As a member of the Shoemaker community, we were promised by Dr. Latham when she visited our PTO (twice) that she would be re-districting. So at that time we were not concerned about any changes. As of May, we were informed on numerous occassions that the numbers for a second first grade were at 10 students. BTW, there is a long waitlist to attend the Shoemaker for OUT OF DISTRICT students. We asked what happened to the re-districting plan and why is Shoemaker not being considered? No answers!!! We already have approx 6 buses that come to the school daily OUT OF DISTRICT...why would it be so difficult to adda few more students. No answers!!! A few parents called School Committee members (no response from most and no answers from the others). It was shocking to realize that most of the SC members really had NO IDEA about this problem. Once again, DISCONNECTION in LPS,Administration, Mayor.,Parents & SC board. Shoemaker families are open to everything and willing to accept OUT OF DISTRICT student (we already have a large population). SO WHAT IS THE PROBLEM??????

  4. Why should you have only 10 students in a class when almost every other school have more than twice that number???

  5. ANON 2:26. The 10 is for a second 1st grade class. The first class is FULL. We are asking why they can not come up with another 10-15 students from the VERY LONG WAITLIST!!!!
The Shoemaker is a regular ed and special ed school. They are slowly taking away the regular ed. That is illegal!!!!

  6. According to the DESE website there are 19 in KG at Shoemaker. If they all move up to first grade, and I'm not a math major, there will be 19 1st graders. So, where does this FULL class plus a second class of 10 come from???? How many are on the VERY LONG WAITLIST that you claim????? Three????
