Before the last regular LSC meeting, we had the initial meeting of the NEW and IMPROVED GRANTS SUBCOMMITTEE headed by that rising political star CHARLIE GALLO.
He proposed we conduct a study to determine how other school districts "DO IT". Of course, that sounds pretty good very methodical, like a good lawyer that he wants to be. I just wonder what is to study. Who doesn't think more money is a good thing? Why aren't we focusing on opportunities?
I think though we ought to be more interested in more frugally spending the money we have. By my calculations grants mad up around 0.5% of the 2012 budget, about 2,6% in the previous year, and about 1% the two years before that.
Now JOHN FORD enthusiastically rushed to support GALLO. He even proposed we think about hiring a GRANT WRITER, surely another plump administration salary. Why would we need another person? We have such a number of highly educated people already on staff and I imagine one of them can be trained to use GOOGLE. I imagine if they have too much trouble, one of the students could train them.
