"Old Wive's Tales", I just love them and not just because I've had a lot of wives. There is a storehouse of wisdom in any saying that has managed to be repeated over the years.
The thing though the wisdom evaporates when you try and tweak the words. Take for example,
"A PENNY SAVED IS A PENNY EARNED". That must be the underlying philosophy behind the use of an internal person to lead the SENSITIVITY TRAINING generated as a response to the mishandling of all the T-SHIRT TROUBLES. It would seem those earlier words of wisdom have morphed into "A PENNY SAVED IS A PENNY LEARNED".
Unfortunately for DR. LATHAM, another saying is more appropriate, "A LAWYER THAT HIRES HIMSELF HAS A FOOL FOR A CLIENT".
A "true" leader of anything whether it be a school system or a scout troop accepts responsibility and takes a proactive approach. A good leader gets out in front of the story. You can either MAKE THE NEWS or BE THE NEWS.
