Learning can all be boiled down to a simple equation:
K = DCC Key: K=knowledge
D=data
C=speed of light (I don't know how to type a superscript)
Knowledge is a very complex thing and unless you have all the components of it, the answers to your equations will yield ignorance. All of us today live in a digital world. The fact that my opinions are so widely read is a testimony to my own enslavement to the masters of mathematics.
Fortunately for me, my bondage is a transient one. I have been able to transcend the artificial boundaries of learning to grasp what I consider the rudiments of learning which is the gaining of knowledge. The accumulation of that knowledge is called INTELLIGENCE.
Knowledge and data are not in a one to one relationship. Even math lovers recognize the need for higher orders for adequate expression. Learning is not linear.
Enter poetry, the arts. Perceptions, Images, to which data can be applied provide for the actual results of learning. It is easy to become enamored with the quantifiable because it is so readily verifiable and this would be find if we lived in a two dimensional world.
Poetry, Literature, and the Arts flesh out learning so the next great device or medical mystery can be solved.
Deep....Dude, you smokin' dope??
