LPS WON'T SPEAK ENGLISH

Is there anyone out there as disappointed or outraged as me that the LYNN ENGLISH incident was not even mentioned at the recent LSC meeting? Sure there were a couple of fine presentations that I will elaborate on tomorrow but there was almost a lassiez faire approach to the problem.

As a school and a community, we are addicted to bullying. The first step to any rehabilitation process is to admit you have a problem. From the lack of mentioning, I guess we don't see one. Well the ENTIRE nation got to see it.

ANTONIO GUTIERREZ ought to have been there to be approved as an afterthought just like many of the school trips to study the physics of rollercoasters or some other less important reasons are.

  1. Why are two teens fighting an issue for a school committee? When I went to school the principal handled fights - never heard of it going to a school committee. Wasn't that already talked about too much. Antonio's presentation actually was in view of the fight so it was talked about indirectly.

The city of Lynn was given some $800,000 back in October for gang prevention - how is that money being used? Is it being used wisely?

  2. You are tight, the individual fight at English or the one at Pickering that ended up on Facebook, the responsibility of the LSC. However they are indicative of a larger more systematic problem. Antonio's presentation was a good first step but it must be followed up on.

The intention of this post was to raise awareness and spark debate. More people need to ask the questions you asked and hold all our elected officials accountable.
