GOING TO THE DOGS

ACLU: English violated student’s rights

This suit should not come as a surprise when MADAME MAYOR talked about it at the LSC meeting, basically she said,"If this girl ever found out her rights we could be sued.". I'm glad she kept the school department's legal strategy a secret.

This has the potential to make COOK STREET PARK look like a class picnic. The way this was handled shows a lack of leadership from the top down. By insisting that nobody did anything wrong only perpetuates the problem.

I know, the story will go away if we just focus on the mascot. That;s not a BULL DOG, that's some BULL %$#*.

  1. English High School Principal Thomas Strangie stands by Vice Principal Joe O’Hagan’s decision.

“The (school) policy says anything that is deemed disruptive,” Strangie said. “This could have been disruptive.” He expressed his disappointment that the controversy has become what he described as “a federal case.” He said the incident took place in January and there has been no problem since. “We just deal with things and move on,” he said. “We don’t want to pit anyone against anyone else … there was no discrimination going on, we wouldn’t allow that.” ~Lynn Item

Dear Mr. Strangie....There has been "no problem since" because you are correct, Lynn Public Schools "just deals with things and moves on". You were not counting on this student actually standing up for her rights, which she has done and this is why we are all just finding out about it now and it is a "federal case" as you so intelligently put in. Also, if "there was no discrimination going on", why then is an attorney for the American Civil Liberties Union involved?
