LET YOUR VOICES BE HEARD!

I'm filing my complaint. How about you?

Dear Sir,

I am writing to express my concern over some recent decisions made by the Lynn Public School system. They have recently hired a second Deputy superintendent, a position they intend to fund with the proposed increase in the CIRCUIT BREAKER reimbursement schedule. Even if this is legal, the fact is they posted the position on Dec. 9, 2011, interviewed one candidate, phone calls were made to school committee members prior to the Jan. 12, 2012 meeting, and did not technically have the money to fund the position until a vote was taken to move money out of the line item funding "out of district placements" for qualified SPED students.
I would home that you would investigated this alleged impropriety and get back with me with your results.
Sincerely,
Stanley H. Wotring, Jr.

  1. Didn't the mayor require a number of candidates to be interviewed for this position? I am sure she was involved too.

  2. We were never told. Dr. Latham talked in the sigular when she talked about interviews. The rumour last spring was SUE ROWE ROWE going to tabbed for the post. It was only a rumour, looks like it came true.

  3. Yes! If I recall correctly, they tabled this matter last year after Rick & Donna asked many great questions. They lost Maria on this one! Why? We will never know.....
The Mayor was the one who said we can deal with this at subcommittee and return to it at a later date! I guess they were all waiting to make deals/hack the eletion process to get their school committee members on to get it passed!
It looks like they succeeded???? Well, lets hope that many SPED parents join you Stanley! We are joining you Stanley and I am calling all of my friends and family who have children in the LPS system....we need to get the MEDIA invovled in this!
BTW, love what GALLO said in the paper. What a joke!
ONE PISSED OFF PARENT IN LYNN....

  4. I also contacted the DOE regarding this matter. However, I was told the contact persons for the circuit breaker were Roger Hatch, School Finance Programs Administrator 781-338-6527 or Jay Sullivan, School Business Services Administrator 781-338-6594. I got voicemails so I emailed both of them. Also, I was told by the DOE that Donna Feinberg is the Program Quality Assurance liason for Lynn. Her # is 781-338-3731. I contacted her regarding another LPS issue and I was sent and received a formal complaint packet.

  5. Donna Fineburg is (in my opinion) not super helpful. I usually skip PQA and go straight to the Office of Civil Rights.

Stan, what do you think about making boilerplate copies of these letter and having parents fill in their info. and we can mail/fax them to DOE?

  6. If you send me an e mail of the template I'll put it up. As you can see, my numbers are EXPLODING!

  7. I agree with Melissa again! Donna is NOT helpful. I would go OCR. I DID! It is the only thing that seems to get some attention around here! The more complaints the more they (OCR) will see a pattern and realize that LPS is truly not here for the children and families.

  9. Melissa. Please continue the fight! The more parents we get involved and filing complaints the stronger we become! Maybe a rally is in order at City Hall before the next school committee meeting? Let me know what you think! Lets get organized and start getting loud!
When is the next PAC meeting? I have asked three times, no answer from stanley!
I will remain Anon for now. But NOT for long!

  10. I'd love to rally. I think we should also print out the comments on the Item's blog and send/read/blast them over a loud speaker at City Hall and the next SC meeting.

  11. Anon. 5:38, Looks like the next PAC meeting will be as always on the first and third Mondays of the month. It has been a little crazy with the holidays.
