ROBIN HOOD'S BEEN HAD

Lots of information about CRAZY spending came out last night, some of it beyond are control. Our hands are tied. STATE MANDATES, you know. NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND is putting us behind the eight ball. It's NOT specific to Lynn, it's a nationwide problem.

There are places we can control and to her credit, we learned last night that DR. LATHAM is trying to do just that. Some may prefer the term DISCREDIT. Where does she start with her cost cutting? Maybe the $800 a day teacher's consultants (a story about that will come out later)? Nooooo!
Instead on her own, without NEEDING committee approval she enters into a $27,000 contract with FUTURE'S EDUCATION to bust up the unions covering some of the SPED workers in order to OUTSOURCE the jobs to a lower paying private agency.

Of course the GOOD DOCTOR denied it was her intention to privatize anything, she was looking to save money. REEEEEALLLLY NOW! Then as RICK STARBARD pointed out, why did she spend $27,000 to hire this firm that reportedly strong armed the AMESBURY paraprofessionals into massive concessions just to keep their jobs.

Only given this information that same day, maybe only hours earlier, RICK was still able to GOOGLE some alarming stories. I can't wait to dig more into this story.

  1. I find the homeless placements to be a little hinky. I understand those who are placed in group homes but their parents are still residents of Lynn. What I don't understand is that if they're homeless and then placed into a group home, then isn't that considered now their home? Why are we still paying for someone to live in one city, go to school in another and none of them are Lynn?

That whole Futures Education thing was crap. You can't tell me that Dr. Latham wasn't aware of this company's reputation! I am dying to know WHO are the two consultants "living at the same address" are. est part of the night was when John Ford asked if a teacher makes $60 a day on Friday, retires and becomes a consultant for 800.00 a day on Monday, what happened over the weekend to make them more valuable? (I'm paraphrasing of course)

  2. You are correct that the Amesbury paraprofessionals had to give up MAJOR concessions-to add insult to injury they were only given a 1 year contract. Partners is bad news-I cannot imagine what they would do to a large district such as Lynn.

I appreciate the fact that you pointed this out.
