PLUM POSITION ALL WRAPPED UP

WATCH watchers already knew about this hire and have been treated to this poet's perspective. The NEED is real, but the questions are LEGITIMATE. This GRANT gift will become a permanent position paid for by YOU. Not me, I'm poor remember?
In theory it is a GREAT idea. Coordination of services seems like a potential way to get maximum services for minimum costs. Potentially and ideally, we could save money but you know how it goes, theoretically and practically don't always have the same meaning.
Plus there is something else I need to remind you - THE POSITION ONLY COVERS 4 SCHOOLS. Also these schools already have paid social workers from other grants. So just WHAT will this person do that's worth $75,000? The two LEVEL 4 schools, CONNERY and HARRINGTON already have wrap-around services written into their plans.
NOT TO MENTION'
(well I already have) if you want to scare committee members into voting with you because of the potential of losing 4.5 million dollars in grant money, lets talk about the millions of dollars you could lose because you want to fool around with redistricting some of the LEVEL 4 schools. The DOE won't be fooled they got some MATH MAJORS down there too.
Pardon me I digress.
Let's get back to the WRAP-AROUND stuff, they do it at the FORD SCHOOL and they do it for FREE. Maybe we should study how they do it before create a salaried position that everybody knows that when the subsidy is gone, we will have to pick up the check. That's because the problems are real and they won't be gone when the grant runs out.

  1. The bottom line is Dr. Latham and her administration are not only leading a FAILING district, they are leading one of the LOWEST districts in the entire state of Massachusetts!! What is even worse, is that she seems proud of this accomplishment. If she were a CEO of a company, she would be fired by the board in a heartbeat. Luckily for her, her board consists of some members who don't care that she has failed at her job and continues to do so. After all, they do not have anything to lose. They can still pursue their own peronal and political agendas. It's our poor children that are suffering the consequences by not receiving the education they deserve and are entitled to. Dr. Latham and her administration are always claiming there are not enough funds in the budget. However, we all know this is not the case. The funds are there, but they are continously misused by Dr. Latham and her administration. Therefore, our schools rarely see any benefits from the funding, but Commercial Street certainly does!!

  3. It only seems logical to the one's that can't see the good in anyone or anything!! You need to pull your kids out and find a district that can serve you. I'm sure within a very short time you would be posting the same rants in your next school.. Though you spend so much time complaining I would like to see you write about a real change that would be effective BUT you'd have to work with a group of people that might be a little bit more knowledgeable!! Could you do that could you compromise and set a plan !! Become your School Council president, be positive and people will be far more willing to listen.

    1. Anonymous, I too am not sure who you were directing your comment too, but Stanley is correct, people are listening. In addition, it doesn't really take any logical thinking to know that Lynn is a failing district. The facts speak for themselves. If you are unclear about this, please contact the DOE, because it seems as though you may be the one who needs more knowledge about our district. However, if you have any facts that prove otherwise, please feel free to share. Finally, a district is suppose to serve all of the children who attend school in it, not a selected few. This is one of the concepts Dr. Latham doesn't seem to understand, and from your comment perhaps you don't either. Again, if you have any information and facts that show Lynn is not a failing district, I would love to hear them.
