Why is it OK to have a relationship with current or former Gordon students, faculty and staff through these organizations, but not through Gordon College itself? Does this make sense? Is this really considered severing all ties with Gordon? What about organizations that may not have current or former Gordon students, faculty and staff working for them, but that do support and continue to have a relationship with Gordon College? Will LPS be severing ties with these organizations too?
The CEO of Catholic Charities also signed the letter to the president. Contrary to what Charlie Gallo posted on his facebook page, LPS actually did have and possible still does have ties to Catholic Charities. Two of the committee members on LPS' Family Engagement Alignment Team were Virginia Doocy, Director of Catholic Charities North and Diane Perez, Basic Needs Intake Coordinator/Case Manager for Catholic Charities North.
And perhaps the biggest mystery of all is why LPS suddenly has an issue with Gordon's principles, policies, behavioral standards and beliefs now, when they have not had an issue with them during the past decade LPS has been working with Gordon. It's not like Gordon has suddenly changed their principles, policies, behavioral standards and beliefs. They are and have been clearly publicized on their website.
Few more questions about the Gordon decision.......What about hiring individuals who got their degree or attended Gordon College? Will LPS not hire them? What about current LPS employees who wish to pursue their education at Gordon for either an undergrad or graduate degree? Will they lose their jobs if they do?
Great questions and points. Have any answers been provided by the school committee?
