LIL'LORI LEARNS OF LAVISH LEADERS

"One in four city workers earning more than $25,000 makes a six-figure salary" "164 city employees — not including public school workers — earn $100,000 plus incomes"

It may not pay to be a resident or student in Lynn, but it sure does pay to be an employee of Lynn.

YOU WONDER WHY OUR SCHOOLS ARE NOT FULLY FUNDED?

  1. Did you ever stop to think how much education is now required continually...at great expense to the individual? If you want well educated people you have to pay for them... Policeman, fireman, lawyers, accountants, etc. training and continuing ed is the key to good results. Now overtime is another issue. Overtime or hiring?overtime saves on benefits, it's cheaper in the long run. What is your solution?

  2. Lori, you need to be a bit more engaged in real life to understand that people who work hard deserve to get paid. Do you know what would happen if Our city started paying a lower wage than other places? The best would leave, they would move out of Lynn where many are required to live and the remains would be your work force. Do you want a sub-par under paid bunch protecting you, teaching your kids, managing your city. Come on it is bad enough now!

    2. There is absolutely no justification for many of the salaries paid to city and school employees! And many of them do not have to and in fact do not live in Lynn. Secretaries and janitors are being paid more than teachers, administrators, and even the Mayor. 6 figure incomes are being paid to people who do not hold an advanced degree. To my knowledge, some do not even hold a college degree. This is absurd and unacceptable. I am so sick of hearing that there is no money for our schools, roads, and other city services when it is clear there actually is money, it is just being spent elsewhere and a big chunk is going to exorbitant salaries.

  3. When you look at the pay of the principals (26 of them), why do they need another raise this year? City workers use to be low pay in exchange for the benefits and pensions - now they get higher pay then comparable in private industry PLUS receive the benefits and big pensions that private industry does not offer. Not to mention in this city it is who you know that gets you the big job, not what you know or how great your experience/degree is.
