I GUESS I'M NOT THAT IMPORTANT

The ITEM they came a calling

Hi Lori, Hi Stanley, Hi Melissa,
I am working on a school salary story that will run Monday in the paper. I wanted to ask you three, because you are often LPS's harshest critics and the best watch group as well, if you think the superintendent and her deputies are worth their salaries.
Cathy makes $212,000.98
Jaye Warry; $157,091.80
Susan Rowe; $151,194.63
Deb Ruggerio (Harrington) is the highest paid principal at $122,923.62 followed by Diane Paradis (LVTI) and Gene Constantino (CLassical) at $120,998 and $120,768 respectively.
It's a lot of money, but it does involve a lot of students--on the record, if you would be so kind--do you think Latham and the others are worth it?
Thanks for your consideration
Chris
PS if there are any other salaries you'd like to know or want to comment on please feel free

My answer
Chris,

It is a lot of money and you are  right in pointing out the awesome responsibility. It should be a lot. My problem has more to do with the decisions being made. You can't only play by the rules when it suits you and then make up your own in silence when it don't. You have to be proactive with solutions and not reactive to problems.

Stan

Then I added More

Does the salary amounts include sick time by back? I am guessing for Cathy that is over 10 K. Other benefits for her and each of the Deputies is I believe a $300 car allowance so that would be 3 X $3600. All of this while the teachers are in negotiation.

You know when the article came out I don't recall seeing my name mentioned anywhere.

Latham leads in Lynn school salaries

Well, that's life in the BIG city!

  1. These people work 80 hour weeks or more ! they are out at night and on Saturdays, some travel great distances . They are subject to constant ridicule from people who have no idea what is going on. They are always furthering their skills and educations. I am no fan of some personalities but they don't get paid to be nice or pretty! They get paid to do a job and I think they are all successful at that task.

    1. All of what you say is true BUT....lots of people work that much, keep furthering their skills, and are faced with people who just don't understand. It is all a matter of what it's worth.

    1. Really? What does Sue Rowe hold for a degree? Here's a hint....She does not have the letters Dr in front of her name.

  3. So what ! Lots of people further their educational, experience in other ways that doesn't equal a degree. Some people in our school system have Ed.D. And didn't work so hard to get it.,

    1. Slow down! Whoa! Just what side of the fence ya sittin on? If it is okay NOT to have a degree, but it's not okay if you are so smart it comes easy to you that then it's not so good. Sounds likeyour whine was made from sour grapes.
