For all the talk about KIPP'S precious lottery system guaranteeing everybody get a fair shot at the American Dream, why then did they do the drawing in secret and not publish the results? Why didn't the lucky lottery winners know right away of their life changing luck? Seems I remember old news reports of a public event where the "fair" drawing took place under public eyes, Tears of joy were mixed with shed sorrow. I seem to even remember my old BFF tailgating for the big day.(Okay, no condiments were actually used for the preparation for this post).
The standard rule in something like this is to throw a cover of confidentiality over where you don't want people to look. This practice is not a charter school coup but they are FAST learners.
Tell me I'm wrong, please/
You're not wrong. If it were a true lottery system, it would be a public event. The names would be chosen at random and everyone in the room would know immediately if their child was chosen. The same goes for the youth city summer jobs that are suppose to use this so called lottery system. These are done in private as well. It's all a bunch of BS!
