DOES THE ITEM PRACTICE DISCRIMINATION BY OMISSION?

Newcomers, vets prep for Lynn's fall elections

You tell me. Trying to focus on some of the changing political winds the ITEM pointed out a couple of historic developments -

The last two city elections made local political history with Mayor Judith Flanagan Kennedy being elected the first woman mayor in 2009 and Cambodian-American Councilor at large Hong Net winning election.

Thanks for the political history lesson. Thanks, really......

BUT.....

don't you think somewhere in the article you maybe, just maybe you should have mentioned LSC MEMBER MARIA CARRASCO?

She is the only and I think the first Latino elected official in the city.

I would hope this lapse in journalistic judgement was a honest oversight and not part of some larger scheme to influence the elections.

SURELY NOT.

This is not the first time such an honest mistake has been made with MARIA. Just last year during an assembly at CLASSICAL celebrating LATIN achievement in the city. A latin FIREFIGHTER and POLICEMAN addressed the audience while MARIA sat in the crowd unrecognized and unnoticed.
