Now I know you have heard and will hear over and over again how JUDY is this staunch defender of the LPS budget and how the budget for the schools is the only dept. that is getting money added to it. Okay she did say last Thursday night there may be one other. In true POLITICS SPEAK I don't think it was identified.
Anyway, here's the actual number presented for this year's budget:

Now I gotta tell you us poets, we're not into MATH. I mean remember that's probably why I tell you all the time,
I AIN'T NO LAWYER!
No, us poets are lovers of BEAUTY. Now just what is BEAUTY you probably want to ask. Excuse me while I wax. No, I'm not getting a BRAZILIAN or removing chest hair. The waxing I'm talking about is of a philosophical nature.
BEAUTY in its most basic, elemental form is TRUTH and I mean true TRUTH. It is true that the overall budget did increase by about $700,000, the non-personnel portion actually decreased by around $800,000. Way to spin JUDY, I am impressed.
Even more disheartening is the fact by all accounts (I'm taking them at their word, after all they never lie, exactly) the number of kids served has increased (they're always bemoaning our growth) so that means our expenditure per student ratio has necessarily plummeted.
Say what you will about CHARTER SCHOOLS and I've said plenty but I would be willing to bet the math works in their favor on this issue. Just remember facts don't always equal truth. There I go boring you with my waxing again.
Anyway LPS, "brace yourself" the storm is coming!
