ll know because I made it ABUNDANTLY clear I had a lot to talk about at open mike but since we are limited to THREE MINUTES (and 1 topic), I was going to talk about how I have been trying for ABOUT A YEAR to get proof of the existence of and agreement between the CITY and the DESE to mitigate and solve the NET SCHOOL SPENDING accrued debt of $17 MILLION DOLLARS and some details of said agreement which could be found in a DOCUMENT. The FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT says I am entitled to peruse that piece of parchment. There was a BIG crowd of parents, teachers, kids and other people present because of the acknowledgement of the GREAT achievements of the kids in the FIRST IN MATH online program. I had been doing voice exercises all morning and I was the only one signed up!
Well what do you know the MAYOR was late (not unusual) but the VICE CHAIR PATTI came down with some mysterious illness that made her go home earlier (I believe I heard that from TOM) and made her MISS the meeting. Long story, short there was no one there at 6:45, 7:00, or even 7:10 to start the meeting so I could get a chance to speak at OPEN MIC. No one got to hear about the fact that they have been illegally avoiding my calls for PROOF of the existence of the satisfaction of LPS's NET SCHOOL SPENDING DEBT and my plans to contact the ATTORNEY GENERAL. Just a coincidence?
After the FIRST IN MATH presentation everybody left but me. The MAYOR jokingly put forth a motion awarding me some kind of award for dedication or something or other. Nice, a little patronizing perhaps since I am being rather pushy so it probably was more pro-active.
Not that I think they will because no one wants the problems but without some sort of agreement -
THE STATE COULD POTENTIALLY TAKE OVER AND SEND THE CITY INTO BANKRUPTCY.
Now no one thinks that will happen but everyone thought we'd have the ferry this year too.
Not the first time they didn't hold an open mic session for fear of what will be said publicly.
ReplyDeleteOh they'll hear from me later today
DeleteYou know, as I read all your posts about the different meetings that take place, it appears many have something in common....the absence of a member, usually the Mayor. A member, particularly the Mayor (Chairperson) continually being absent or even late, is extremely unprofessional and unacceptable. As elected officials, they all have a responsibility and are expected to be on time and present for every meeting.
