WORD POWER

Good thing K didn't make it to last night's LSC meeting in person! Where's a crippled guy to sit? Surely not in my regular seat. Well the packed house was courtesy of all the individual award winning representing all the city's schools, their families, teacher's and principals. This was the first time in the awards history that all the winners were present. The contest was the GEORGE F. LAUBNER ACADEMIC AND ACHIEVEMENT AWARD where winners from each school on the value of education to them and their families. You know, real hopes and dream stuff.

Partnering with the LAUBNER family, the LYNN BUSINESS ED FOUNDATION sweetened the certificates with a $50 gift card to BARNES & NOBLE. A former SUPERINTENDENT and Reading teacher, I'm sure GEORGE would have recognized the symbolic importance of the honorarium.

IT WOULD HAVE BEEN NICE IF THE MAYOR WOULD HAVE BEEN THERE FOR THE WHOLE SHOW!
