Dear Mayor Kennedy, Dr. Latham, and members of the Lynn
School Committee,
Recently the Lynn School Committee was asked to approve how
LPS spent monies reimbursed from the city as part of a repayment plan worked
out between the city and the DESE. Supposedly the DESE was requiring that
approval. That approval was tabled due to some problems with the Tracy modular
classrooms I believe. That motion has not come off the table and as a result of
that fact, I think I would be correct in the assertion you will be trying to
discuss next year’s budget at the next Finance subcommittee and Meeting of the
Whole next Thursday June 2 with unresolved past issues.
I, along with others have written several times requesting
details of the supposed negotiated resolution of the Net School Spending
crisis. So far no response has been forthcoming. Such resistance to public
disclosure only fuels speculation of corruption and misappropriation. Even if
that were true, I do not believe the political will is present to proceed with
prosecution. Be that as it may, I will continue to ask questions openly and try
to expose what I believe are questionable practices.
Sincerely,
Stan
