Everybody's Talking At Me!

Hey LSC look at my number. People are interested in what's happening with education in Lynn. This blog was started in mid July back when I still had cataracts (the typos in those old postings showed it) and it looks like I'll break the 10,000 hit mark in early march..

We are learning things, we are sharing things, and we are wanting things. We want the best education for our kids and we want to hold those accountable who are charged with and paid for that task. Can you hear us now?

  3. The vote on the deputy superintendent's position said it all - Starbard and Coppola were on the side of our kids.

  4. This blog has a deeper readership than you might imagine. I actually got a call from and had quite a conversation with the Superintendent yesterday regarding one of my posts on this site, which I clarified. Some lump all blog sites in the same bag and view them all as negative, which I believe that she does. I would not argue with that assumption when it comes to some blogs where most of the participants are anonymous. When you don’t know with whom you are communicating with or in some case debating with, you are in a no win situation. This site, while critical at times, provides citizens the opportunity to ask questions and share information. These are questions and information regarding our most important department in the city. I have gained a wealth of information reading many of the posts shared on this site. A year into this school committee thing and after 14 years of teaching at Tech, I still have much to learn. I made the suggestion to the Superintendent that she should participate in some of these discussions as this is manner in which people are informed and share information today and maybe as time goes on she may, or devise a way to funnel information but don’t hold your breath. Until then, keep asking questions, demand the very best for our kids, but respect the opinions of others. If I have any answers, I will provide them. If I don’t have the answers, I will at least try to find them. Even if administration is not posting, remember that they are reading.

    Well said Rick.

At least they are reading. All we are asking for it "the very best for our kids". And I think we can all agree that we are not there yet.
