To Whom It May Concern,

On June 25, 2015 a Public Hearing will be held at 6:00 pm at 100 Bennett Street in Lynn, MA to determine whether or not to reverse an August, 2014 vote to sever ties between Lynn Public Schools and Gordon College. The expressed reasoning behind the majority, 4-3, vote was because the President of the college gad signed on to a letter co-signed by 12 other institutions asking for an exemption to President Obama barring discrimination against the LBGT community in hiring practices.

Four members of the Lynn School Committee took it upon themselves to not only deny Gordon College and its representatives their freedom of speech, freedom of religion, and their guarantee of due process as outlined in the Fourteenth Amendment.  It’s sadly ironic that this is all being played out in Lynn, MA so close to the birthplace of the American Revolution.

Hopefully some compromise can be reach that protects and satisfies the LBGT community and allows for the re-establishment of the relationship between LPS and Gordon College slowing them to offer some sort of mutually beneficial partnership. Like I have repeated many times in the past, there is no LBGT exemption from the MCAS.
