Dr. Latham,
I strongly urge you to reconsider your opposition to the establishment of any ties to Gordon College. The fact that they were granted an exemption to President Obama's Executive Order negates the possibility to any potential violation of the law. In fact, by refusing to allow them to work with LPS, you are in fact perpetuating a reverse form of discrimination.
Without a doubt I am sure LPS's intention is to protect every minority population. It would seem to me that safeguards could be put in place that would enable this to happen. Given the budgetary constraints facing LPS at this time thought ought to be given to expanding voluntary opportunities rather than eliminating them.
Either way I am sure you will have your chance to publicly express your views at the upcoming Public Hearing. Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
Stanley H. Wotring, Jr.
They were NOT granted an exemption. Obama denied it, "in fact."

You are probably right. I have seen it printed both ways. Whether or not they were is beside the point. Asking a question is not a violation, if one exists it should be brought forth and adjudicated. That is how our legal system is supposed to work. We do not employ "thought police" and this area should have learned the dangers of mass hysteria after the SALEM WITCH TRIALS.
ReplyDeleteHow is it beside the point when it was very much the point of your argument????
ReplyDeleteThe heart of my argument is you can not convict someone of a crime before you prove it actually exists. I refer you to the 14th Amendment.
DeleteYou said, "The fact that they were granted an exemption to President Obama's Executive Order negates the possibility to any potential violation of the law. In fact, by refusing to allow them to work with LPS, you are in fact perpetuating a reverse form of discrimination." It sounds like the basis of your argument!!!
ReplyDeleteYour turn. Name the specific actionable violation. You don't get a ticket for "jaywalking" until you cross the street.
